Washington DC vacation rentals near the 2027 NFL Draft

The 2027 NFL Draft is coming to the National Mall in Washington DC — and with more than one million fans expected over three days in April 2027, finding the right place to stay will be one of the most important decisions you make. Home Sweet City offers professionally managed vacation rentals in seven of DC’s most sought-after neighborhoods, putting you within walking distance or a short Metro ride from the main stage, the free NFL Draft Experience fan festival, and all of the surrounding events.

Unlike hotels, our properties give you a full home — private bedrooms, a real kitchen, a living room to gather in after a long day on the Mall, and a neighborhood to actually explore. Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or as a group of fellow fans, we have properties sized and priced to match. Our Capitol Hill, Shaw, and Logan Circle properties are especially popular for major National Mall events because of how easily you can walk to and from the venue without relying on rideshares or shuttle buses during peak crowd times.

All properties are available to book directly through our website — no third-party platform fees, and local support from our DC-based team throughout your stay. We strongly recommend booking early: major NFL Draft host cities have seen accommodations sell out months in advance, and DC’s projected attendance of 1M+ makes 2027 the largest draft in NFL history.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about staying near the 2027 NFL Draft

The 2027 NFL Draft will be held on the National Mall in Washington DC, with the main stage positioned facing the United States Capitol building. The event footprint will also extend along Pennsylvania Avenue, encompassing some of DC’s most iconic landmarks including views of the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. The three-day event — hosted by the Washington Commanders and Events DC — is scheduled for April 2027 and will include the live draft stage, the free NFL Draft Experience fan festival, concerts, and other programming spread across the Mall. It will be the first time the NFL Draft has been held in Washington DC since 1941.

Three of our neighborhoods offer genuine walking access to the National Mall draft venue:

Capitol Hill sits immediately east of the Capitol building and is the closest of our neighborhoods to the main draft stage. Many Capitol Hill streets feed directly onto the Mall. View Capitol Hill properties →

Shaw is located just north of the Mall corridor and is walkable via several direct routes. It also sits close to the Penn Quarter and Gallery Place areas where much of the surrounding draft week activity is likely to spill. View Shaw properties →

Logan Circle is a 20–30 minute walk northwest of the Mall, passing through vibrant streets lined with restaurants and bars that will be buzzing during draft week. View Logan Circle properties →

With over one million fans projected to attend the 2027 NFL Draft — the largest expected attendance in draft history — Washington DC hotel rooms will be extremely scarce and significantly more expensive than usual. Vacation rentals offer several advantages that make them the smarter choice for a multi-day event like the draft:

More space for groups: A single vacation rental can comfortably sleep 4–10 guests, making it far more economical than booking multiple hotel rooms for friends or family traveling together.

A full kitchen: Draft weekend is three full days. Having a kitchen means you can prepare breakfasts, keep snacks and drinks stocked, and avoid the long restaurant wait times that will inevitably hit DC during peak attendance hours.

A real home base: After hours on the National Mall, having a living room, multiple bathrooms, and private bedrooms makes a meaningful difference in how you recover and enjoy the full weekend.

Neighborhood access: Our properties put you in walkable DC neighborhoods with local bars, restaurants, and shops — not in a hotel corridor. Draft week in DC will extend well beyond the Mall itself, and being embedded in a neighborhood means you experience all of it.

Washington DC has one of the most visitor-friendly public transit systems in the country, and all of our neighborhoods have easy Metro access to the National Mall area. Here’s a quick guide by neighborhood:

Dupont Circle: Take the Red Line one stop south to Metro Center, then walk to the Mall. Total transit time approximately 15 minutes.

Bloomingdale: The Shaw-Howard University Green/Yellow Line station is a short walk away. Ride two stops south to L’Enfant Plaza, which sits directly on the Mall’s southern edge.

Petworth: Take the Green or Yellow Line from Georgia Ave-Petworth south to L’Enfant Plaza. Approximately 20 minutes door to venue.

Mount Pleasant: Board the Red Line at the Woodley Park or Columbia Heights stations for a 20-minute ride into the Mall area. Alternatively, it’s a pleasant 35-40 minute walk through Rock Creek Park to the National Mall.

During peak draft hours, we recommend using Metro over rideshare — surge pricing during major events can make Uber and Lyft significantly more expensive, and Metro will run extended service to accommodate draft crowds.

As early as possible — and we mean that seriously. The 2027 NFL Draft is projected to be the largest in NFL history, with over one million attendees expected across three days in April 2027. To put that in context, the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit drew 750,000 fans and effectively sold out every hotel and rental within a reasonable distance of the venue months before the event.

Washington DC has a large but finite supply of quality vacation rentals, and properties in our walking-distance neighborhoods — Capitol Hill, Shaw, and Logan Circle — will almost certainly be fully booked 6–12 months before the event. Even Metro-accessible neighborhoods like Dupont Circle and Petworth will see strong demand as visitors look beyond the immediate venue area.

Our best advice: book your property now, even if the exact April dates haven’t been confirmed yet. Home Sweet City allows flexible booking modifications, and locking in your preferred property and neighborhood today is far better than searching for availability in late 2026 when options will be limited.
