Home Sweet City began with a simple idea: turning home spaces into opportunities. In 2009, we, founders Alex Fuentes Gonzalez and Lara Hawketts, were looking for ways to supplement our income. We decided to rent out our Washington D.C. basement on Airbnb. What started as a creative way to cover our mortgage quickly became a passion for offering unmatched hospitality experiences. We saw firsthand how a well-run short-term rental could offer guests a welcoming home-away-from home while providing meaningful income.
That’s why we launched Home Sweet City, the first short-term rental management company in Washington D.C., to help other homeowners navigate the vacation rental world. Today, HSC is the highest-rated premium short-term rental management service in the city, with almost 100 carefully curated, fully furnished properties and a reputation for exceptional service.
