Overall the location and place were outstanding, everthing described was accurate, communication part was really bad, regarding parking at this location was horrible, I ended up paying for parking 7 blocks away, no way to park near the location, bad communication on part of host, waited all day with no response. She did send a link for a parking permit, the link lead me nowhere. Did verify with local police and they did state that parking was not allowed without permit.

I had a wonderful stay! The space was clean, cute and in a great neighborhood – near good restaurants, groceries, etc. Close drive to National Mall and museums. Host was very communicative and responsive. Will definitely stay here again next time I’m in DC!

Summary: Stayed for 11 days. Overall a great place with small areas for improvement. Only taking off a star for the WiFi.
Pros: host is quick and responsive, very clean, kitchen and laundry perfect for longer stays, excellent water pressure, great AC, provides bug spray and Raid for summer insects
Cons: WiFi unreliable (this was big for me because I was working remotely. The host was very responsive with trying to help, but connection was off and on for work calls), something may have died in the bushes near the gate because there was a bad smell outside but it didn’t affect the actual housing.

I had a wonderful stay! The space was clean, cute and in a great neighborhood – near good restaurants, groceries, etc. Close drive to National Mall and museums. Host was very communicative and responsive. Will definitely stay here again next time I’m in DC!

Positive:
The location was perfect for us as it was close to family. It’s a 10-15 minute walk to the Metro. There is a Whole Foods nearby and we walked to several nice restaurants. We slept really well in comfortable beds.

great place, bigger than expected! i didn’t realize it was the ground floor unit at first, so it took me a bit to find the exterior key holder, but after that, was smooth sailing. surprisingly quiet considering it is a ground unit, and really cozy and private. loved the greenery outside (and all the bird sounds were so nice, despite being in the middle of the city!). super walkable and close to groceries and lots of variety for delicious restaurants. it was *slightly out of walkable distance to the downton DC attractions (read: museums, capitol, etc), but personally i loved that because it meant a much quieter space to retreat back to. also really appreciated the shampoo and conditioner, and the cleanliness! great spot.

The place was nice enough but the host definitely only provided the bare minimum. When asked if there were extra blankets anywhere the response was, the couch isn’t advertised as a sleeping space so we won’t provide more than the one small blanket already on the bed. You would think they would offer to bring one down. Entry way was also very dark and the light was out of order. Host was notified, but also didn’t offer to fix it. Entry way also smelled of car pee a bit. Location was great. Neighborhood was a fun, happening area.

I’m moving to DC in a month and wanted a BnB while apartment hunting. From start to finish, my experience with Home Sweet City was excellent and hosts were very responsive ! I would highly recommend!! Everything was as described and the apt was spic and span. Only issues were spotty internet on occasion and fairly chilly as it was a basement unit. Other than that, loved it!! Fabulous location-five stars all around.

The host was extremely professional and responsive. The unit, an English basement, is clean and private and feels very safe. The furnishings are new and clean and comfortable. The bathroom is also fresh and seems very up to date. This is a perfect spot for 1 or 2 people who are in the city visiting the LeDroit Park/Shaw neighborhoods or Howard University. Very walkable, and located on a lovely quiet block.

My adult daughter and I were in town to spend time with my other daughter, her husband, and their new baby. They live in a small apartment in the neighborhood, so we wanted someplace nearby to sleep and shower. This stylish and immaculate English basement apartment was perfect. Just the right size for two people. The unit was thoughtfully and stylishly furnished and had everything we needed, including a full size fridge and stove. The place was spotless and well stocked with toiletries, and coffee and tea. Hoping to book again soon!

Great price for a few days in DC. Quiet street with easy access to the metro and restaurants along U Street. The hosts were incredibly thoughtful and proactive communicators — checking in and out was seamless! The physical space was great for one person, though it may feel on the smaller side for two people. Incredibly clean, modern and new kitchen appliances, and the provided coffee was an appreciated touch!

Nice and cozy. Home sweet was very responding and helpful answered every question I had. The subway was a nice ten minute walk which was nice and restaurants as well. The property was very clean and organized. The only thing I didn’t like was since this is my first time using Airbnb the host requested a $500 refundable deposit which was kinda iffy to me at first but i understand why from what I see on the news and what people do to others homes. Great place I recommend staying here I will be back.

The location of this apartment was perfect for us as our daughter lives nearby. The neighborhood is quiet with many restaurants and a small grocery within a short walking distance. Museums and other DC attractions are a 10-15 minute Uber away. The apartment was very comfortable with a nice shower and comfortable bed. Everything was very clean! We did not have the need to cook but all the appliances were clean and in great condition. The bedroom is in the back and is very quiet at night. Staying in a neighborhood away from busy traffic made our visit more relaxed. We will stay here again.

I had the pleasure of staying at Home Sweet City’s beautiful place when a friend was in town. I absolutely adored the place. It was plenty of space. very clean and tidy. The host was very responsive and even provided us with a new iron when we requested one which shows how they went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The location is also great. I will definitely be booking here again.

If you’re reading this, you’ll know how expensive stays in Washington are. This apartment is a nice option if there are one or two of you. We appreciated the small touches such as coffee and tea, soap and shampoo, and a washing machine available. The bed was comfortable, and aside from hearing the people above a few times, it was a quiet night’s sleep.
Many reviews mention walkability. I’ll add that Capitol Bikeshare is an excellent way to get around Washington, and there is a station right around the corner.

It was exactly like the pictures, easy instructions. I did not like that I had to remove my own trash when I had to pay a cleaning fee. The tenants upstairs were up and walking around all 3 nights of my stay well after midnight and last 1:30am. The A/C in bedroom made a clicking noise and it was hard to sleep with noise of people upstairs and A/C noise. A/C also would cool then shut off and get very hot. So temps fluctuated all night.

The accommodation were lovely and impeccably tidy. The host was very accommodating. My sole hiccup arose from my confusion about the unit’s location—I didn’t realize when I booked that it was in the basement, leading me to attempt entry through the wrong door. Including this detail in the heading would have been beneficial. Another observation was that DC during springtime is humid. While the presence of a dehumidifier was appreciated, its noise and central placement made it somewhat inconvenient, plus it required frequent emptying. Overall, this is a good unit, and I had a delightful stay.

The place was very well appointed and immaculate in cleanliness. Overall a very nice place and a great location for our activities. However, I didn’t realize from the description or photos that this was a basement apartment. It wouldn’t have mattered but I went to the wrong door and had to call when the key code would not work to find out I was in the wrong place. Additionally, as it was a basement apt it was very damp. There was a dehumidifier but it had to be emptied 2x-day to stay dry and was quite noisy. We ended up having to turn it off at night so we could sleep.

A nice, new, well appointed one bedroom basement apartment. Comfy bed, great pillows, great water pressure and heat in the shower. Nice kitchen. basic pots and dishes. Was able to make breakfast every morning no problem.
A bit of a trek to the Metro. Particularly after a day of touring, when your feet are aching. 10 to 15 minute walk home. The Shaw/Howard stop is very close to the mall and museums though.
Safe and quiet neighborhood. We had good luck with the restaurants in the area.

This unit is as described with a very responsive and proactive team. I would stay again. I had an issue with my check-in and check-out time but the host worked with me. There are plenty of bus routes near by to get yo into the city.

This space was the perfect one bedroom for a long weekend getaway. the hosts were responsive and the place was neat. There was some noise from the upstairs neighbor but it was inconsistent and not a real disturbance. Street parking can be dicey as my car was broken into, but this isn’t a reflection of the condo/building. Overall, I would feel comfortable allowing my family to stay again.

The apartment was great to stay in. Keep in mind this is a basement unit, so you can regularly hear the above residents and there dog, but the unit is clean, good-sized, and well maintained. I would stay there again.

Highly recommended! The host team was very responsive – they would reply within 30 minutes throughout the stay. I stayed for 2 weeks and the apartment includes everything that would be required for a longer term stay, comfortably for upto 2-3 people.

We really enjoyed our stay in Michelle’s place. The apartment was exactly as described, towels, some condiments, shampoo and conditioner all provided. Fully equipped kitchen to cook our own meals. The location was out of town in a lovely peaceful neighbourhood. We always felt safe. There were plenty of public transport options including buses and trains into the centre and surrounding locations and Michelle always responded to our messages super quick! I would definitely stay here again if I ever returned to DC. Beautiful spot.

Nice location, but very small, crowded basement apartment. Amenities seemed rationed—had to do laundry and dishes daily (two each on dishes, a few glasses, two washcloths, etc.); no kleenex, and two rolls of toilet paper for five night stay. Bed needs improvement—mattress on frame, no box spring. Really a nice location, though, and price, while inflated, is in keeping with the location.

I enjoyed staying here and it was easy to find parking almost right in front, if not in front of the house. Bed is comfy. Kitchen is well stocked. Place was nice and clean and had good amenities. It is 20 minutes walking distance from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. I would definitely stay here again!

First of all, I would like to say that Home Sweet City was very easy to communicate with. Any time we had a question, they were very quick to respond. We would definitely rent one of the properties they manage again. The location was close to a lot of restaurants which was good and it was a perfect size with all the amenities one needs. That being said, there was a bit of an issue with the noise coming from upstairs. We didnt say anything as I believe it might have been the owner but there is definitely a need to do some more sound-proofing because we could hear practically everything that went on up there. So yes, please invest in some more soundproofing. Otherwise, it was a nice place.

We had a lovely stay here for about a week! We were in town for a wedding and the location was convenient to the Shaw area and DuPont. It is very near the bars and restaurants on U street though off enough that it’s quiet at night. You can also walk to the mall in about 40 minutes, or take the nearby metro a couple stops. We did not have a car but understand street parking is available with a permit and advanced planning.
The unit itself is a comfortable one bedroom. The kitchen area is well equipped and we appreciated having easy access to the washer and dryer. The hosts are communicative and check in and out was smooth. A couple bugs got into the unit occasionally during our stay, but nothing unreasonable. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend it to others.

Many reviews mention walkability. I'll add that Capitol Bikeshare is an excellent way to get around Washington, and there is a station right around the corner.

It was exactly like the pictures, easy instructions. I did not like that I had to remove my own trash when I had to pay a cleaning fee. The tenants upstairs were up and walking around all 3 nights of my stay well after midnight and last 1:30am. The A/C in bedroom made a clicking noise and it was hard to sleep with noise of people upstairs and A/C noise. A/C also would cool then shut off and get very hot. So temps fluctuated all night.

The accommodation were lovely and impeccably tidy. The host was very accommodating. My sole hiccup arose from my confusion about the unit's location—I didn't realize when I booked that it was in the basement, leading me to attempt entry through the wrong door. Including this detail in the heading would have been beneficial. Another observation was that DC during springtime is humid. While the presence of a dehumidifier was appreciated, its noise and central placement made it somewhat inconvenient, plus it required frequent emptying. Overall, this is a good unit, and I had a delightful stay.

The place was very well appointed and immaculate in cleanliness. Overall a very nice place and a great location for our activities. However, I didn’t realize from the description or photos that this was a basement apartment. It wouldn’t have mattered but I went to the wrong door and had to call when the key code would not work to find out I was in the wrong place. Additionally, as it was a basement apt it was very damp. There was a dehumidifier but it had to be emptied 2x-day to stay dry and was quite noisy. We ended up having to turn it off at night so we could sleep.

A nice, new, well appointed one bedroom basement apartment. Comfy bed, great pillows, great water pressure and heat in the shower. Nice kitchen. basic pots and dishes. Was able to make breakfast every morning no problem.
A bit of a trek to the Metro. Particularly after a day of touring, when your feet are aching. 10 to 15 minute walk home. The Shaw/Howard stop is very close to the mall and museums though.
Safe and quiet neighborhood. We had good luck with the restaurants in the area.

This unit is as described with a very responsive and proactive team. I would stay again. I had an issue with my check-in and check-out time but the host worked with me. There are plenty of bus routes near by to get yo into the city.

This space was the perfect one bedroom for a long weekend getaway. the hosts were responsive and the place was neat. There was some noise from the upstairs neighbor but it was inconsistent and not a real disturbance. Street parking can be dicey as my car was broken into, but this isn't a reflection of the condo/building. Overall, I would feel comfortable allowing my family to stay again.

The apartment was great to stay in. Keep in mind this is a basement unit, so you can regularly hear the above residents and there dog, but the unit is clean, good-sized, and well maintained. I would stay there again.

This apartment was perfect for our visit — we came into DC for 2 nights to see an exhibition at the Smithsonian. We found easy parking 3 blocks away. If I were in DC for a similar visit, I would book again.

Highly recommended! The host team was very responsive - they would reply within 30 minutes throughout the stay. I stayed for 2 weeks and the apartment includes everything that would be required for a longer term stay, comfortably for upto 2-3 people.

We really enjoyed our stay in Michelle's place. The apartment was exactly as described, towels, some condiments, shampoo and conditioner all provided. Fully equipped kitchen to cook our own meals. The location was out of town in a lovely peaceful neighbourhood. We always felt safe. There were plenty of public transport options including buses and trains into the centre and surrounding locations and Michelle always responded to our messages super quick! I would definitely stay here again if I ever returned to DC. Beautiful spot.

Nice location, but very small, crowded basement apartment. Amenities seemed rationed—had to do laundry and dishes daily (two each on dishes, a few glasses, two washcloths, etc.); no kleenex, and two rolls of toilet paper for five night stay. Bed needs improvement—mattress on frame, no box spring. Really a nice location, though, and price, while inflated, is in keeping with the location.

I enjoyed staying here and it was easy to find parking almost right in front, if not in front of the house. Bed is comfy. Kitchen is well stocked. Place was nice and clean and had good amenities. It is 20 minutes walking distance from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. I would definitely stay here again!

First of all, I would like to say that Home Sweet City was very easy to communicate with. Any time we had a question, they were very quick to respond. We would definitely rent one of the properties they manage again. The location was close to a lot of restaurants which was good and it was a perfect size with all the amenities one needs. That being said, there was a bit of an issue with the noise coming from upstairs. We didnt say anything as I believe it might have been the owner but there is definitely a need to do some more sound-proofing because we could hear practically everything that went on up there. So yes, please invest in some more soundproofing. Otherwise, it was a nice place.

We had a lovely stay here for about a week! We were in town for a wedding and the location was convenient to the Shaw area and DuPont. It is very near the bars and restaurants on U street though off enough that it’s quiet at night. You can also walk to the mall in about 40 minutes, or take the nearby metro a couple stops. We did not have a car but understand street parking is available with a permit and advanced planning.
The unit itself is a comfortable one bedroom. The kitchen area is well equipped and we appreciated having easy access to the washer and dryer. The hosts are communicative and check in and out was smooth. A couple bugs got into the unit occasionally during our stay, but nothing unreasonable. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend it to others.
