This apartment was perfect for our needs. We had a longer stay (3 weeks) and this fit the bill – it is close to Capitol Hill and 2 metro stations (Eastern Market, Capitol South) as well as the D10 bus line which is literally a few steps outside. There’s a Trader Joe’s nearby as well as a ton of restaurants, all within walking distance. The neighborhood is safe and we enjoyed going to Eastern Market on the weekends. There are zero problems with the shower whatsoever. Thanks for everything!

Great location. Very walkable to the Capitol building and Union Station for the hop on hop off bus. We were there during a heat wave, otherwise would have been able walk down to the mall. We felt very safe walking around the area with 2 kids.

This apartment was perfect for our needs. Great location. Very walkable to the Capitol building and Union Station for the hop on hop off bus. We were there during a heat wave, otherwise would have been able walk down to the mall. We felt very safe walking around the area with 2 kids.

Great place to stay if you want walking distance to the capital. The neighborhood is actually not bad. Great restaurants and cafes nearby. The closest mainstream grocery store was Trader Joe’s. Parking wasn’t terrible, we either were able to find a spot directly in front of the home or around the corner. There is only one AC unit in the bedroom but since the apartment is in the basement, the whole place stayed relatively cool. Wished there were fans in the extreme heat we experienced, but luckily we brought our own portable one.
My only cons would be the bed was too soft for my liking and the swarm of flies that greeted us when we opened the front door. However, DC and flies are the norm in the summer.
The staff managing this listing were very responsive and receptive to feedback.

Great spot for a weekend trip! Close to the metro. Lots of restaurants and Trader Joe’s nearby. Easy check-in process. If you’re a light sleeper, would recommend ear plugs to help as you will hear the family upstairs with kiddos early in the morning. Overall would recommend!

We loved staying at Sweet Home City’s apartment near the Capitol! It was within easy walking distance to everything. The house is located in a beautiful older very quiet neighborhood with lots of trees. There are Capitol Bikeshare bike racks available to rent bikes a couple of blocks away. We were also able to easily walk to grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s, to restaurants in the neighborhood, and to the Eastern Market Metro station which is also just a few blocks away. From the Metro we traveled to the National Mall, out to Wolftrap and all over the City. We came home for lunch and a nap every day and then headed back out! Our hosts were always available to answer questions and they were very helpful with suggestions of things to do and places to dine. We would definitely come back again to this lovely quiet apartment in DC!

Positive:
Location was very good close to metro and capital.
Negative:
The property needs better ventilation. There was no AC in the living room, kitchen, dining area. And with no screens on the windows it was hard to get fresh air or good air circulation. In the summer months this would make it more uncomfortable. Understandably this was in high season because of university graduations, but the $400 a night cost should have a sufficient mattress in the bedroom. The mattress was far past it’s useful life. Most nights we needed to sleep in the reverse direction on the mattress because of insufficient support.

The listing was as described with the host providing local recommendations and detailed instructions for check in. It is street parking though there was plenty of spots in the designated zones. The only thing that was less than ideal was the water heater was very loud at night. Overall it was a great place and location!

● Can't really use oven due to lack of window, sets off smoke alarm
● Sofa bed comfortable but squeaky
● Spare pillows very old, feathers poking out, were unusable
● Bedroom door gets stuck (expands perhaps), very loud and quite difficult to open
● Blinds in bedroom are broken, need replacing to ensure privacy when changing
● Upstairs neighbours are very loud, playing drums at early hours and in evenings (appreciate this is not within the hosts' control)

Fantastic place, fantastic location, fantastic amenities! I highly recommend this beautiful home to academic visitors and researchers visiting DC to conduct research at the Library of Congress and other archival sites and museums. This space is conducive and within walking distance of the library.

This is a super-convenient garden level apartment, within easy walking distance of the Capitol, Eastern Market, grocery stores, and the Metro. It was clean and comfortable, and one of the easiest set of directions and entry instructions I’ve encountered on AirBNB.

Excellent emplacement. Très tranquille et sécuritaire. À proximité de tout (station de métro ou de bus, épiceries, petits restaurants, pharmacie) à pied ou en trottinette électrique. Très propre et lieux identiques aux photos. Convenait très bien pour une famille de 4 (2 adultes et 2 enfants moins de 10 ans) pour une court séjour. Lits très confortables!
Seul petit commentaire qui ne s’applique pas à tout le monde : peu de pression dans la douche et la quantité d’eau chaude parfois insuffisante si vous ou vos enfants ont les cheveux longs.
Le service reçu était excellent! Nous le recommandons sans hésiter.

Great place close to the museums downtown and the National Mall. There are some great restaurants just 5-10 minutes walk away.
I held off from giving a full 5 stars for two modifications I think would help:
I would recommend installing a slightly bigger toilet. The seat and bowl are not quite long enough for a man to fit everything comfortably.
The tankless water heater works great for continuous hot water in the sink or kitchen, but the low flow shower head caused it to cut off after about 45 seconds in the shower. You can get around this by turning on the sink hot tap at the same time. I suspect there is an adjustment that could be made on the heater so it doesn’t cut out if only the shower is running.
Again, these are minor inconveniences, that I was glad to work around given the location and decent pricing, and no problems finding a parking spot out front each night.

This was a beautiful place for our short staying in Washington DC, the building looks very cute, we had a nice street view, the process to get the parking pass was very automated and there was always parking nearby. The decor is very inviting and really cute, we were able to make breakfast at the house, it has a well equipped small kitchen. Washer and dryer were available inside the house it is a plus. The water temperature for the shower was very fluctuating, I couldn’t shower my baby comfortably.

First time in Washington DC and it the host made it feel right at home. all the places wanted to visit was in walkable distance, and the host was always available to help with the parking process. the stay was welcoming and so comfortable. definitely going back!

Location was excellent. Space was very good for 4 guests ( 2 adults and 2 kids). Nice TV with Netflix. Nearby stores and restaurants. Small insects noted on the floor mainly at night and when opening the front door ( mentioned in property description). Washer and dryer were not cleaned well, when I mention that to the owner with pictures, they responded and offered help with cleaning next day and also offered a gift for inconvenience which was very nice of them. Overall, we liked the stay.

Home Sweet City’s place is in an amazing location in DC. Easily walkable to the Capitol Building, museums, etc. Also easily access the bike stations for Capital Bike Share (super inexpensive for a day pass). On top of that, there are a bunch of local restaurants and it’s a 5 minute walk to Trader Joe’s.
We took four adults on this trip (2 parents + 2 older kids). This place would be terrific for a couple with small children or for just a couple by themselves. It worked well enough for our purposes but it was slightly less comfortable for four adults due to lack of seating and dedicated beds (the second bed is a foldout couch). We knew this going in (the description is clear) and we went for it anyway so no complaints – just calling it out for others. In the end, we prioritized location over comfort and it was totally worth it.

Great experience! The location of the unit is easily walkable to the Capitol and the Library of Congress. In addition, quick access the metro station, which is only within a few minutes walk away. Grocery stores and restaurants are also plentiful in the area as well. Hosts are communicative and very responsive!

The english basement was adorable and exactly what we needed for a short stay in Capitol Hill. Beds were extremely comfortable with high quality bedding and linens. Pull out couch was also comfortable. Everything was perfect including the expectations on check in and check out.

La casa es muy agradable, cuenta con todas las facilidades necesarias y está muy bien ubicada. Esta muy cerca al metro y hay muchos restaurantes muy cerca con una gran variedad de comida. En general cumplen lo que prometen y es idéntico a las fotos. Me encantó!
El único aspecto que quiero recomendarles mejorar es ser más empáticos y justos con los cambios de planes: Debido a un aspecto fuera de mi control tuve que acortar un día mi estadía. Hice esa modificación con más de un mes de anticipación y aún así no me devolvieron el dinero de ese día extra que no podía quedarme.
Posteriormente solicité que el día que había perdido lo añadirán al final de mi estadía, pero intentaron cobrarme ese día nuevamente aún cuando ya había pagado por el, ya que nunca me devolvieron el dinero.

Every possible need was anticipated with lamps in the right place, a well-appointed kitchen (utensils, coffee and tea, glasses and cups), temperature control options, clean towels laid out, etc. The unit was tastefully decorated and cheerful.
The only item I was disappointed in was the quality of the bed mattress; it did not provide good support.

This was a great place to stay! I would definitely return if I am back in DC. The house was clean, and they provided solid amenities. Everything was in working order, and the room was well-styled. I stayed for about a month, and the hosts were consistently communicative. The location is near the US capitol and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. Overall very good experience and I would gladly return.

First time visiting DC. Location is awesome! Walkable to restaurants and shops. FYI the shower is a conundrum. First use was my 11-year-old daughter.. she yelled out for my help five minutes in because it went cold. We turned off the cold knob and it took at least one minute to get warm again and then had to turn the cold on to regulate temperature. This happened again within the few times within a short span of 10 minutes. I took a shower the next morning very early before 8 AM.. I experienced the same thing. I stayed at many Airbnb’s and this was something I’ve never experienced. It would’ve been nice to have a heads up..

Pictures speak for themselves! Great location close to US Capitol and a few restaurants. Nice walkable neighborhood. A bit noisy neighbor upstairs and hot water in the shower is not constant; it did burn my kids a couple of times!

We loved this location- close to the metro station, the eastern market, lots of restaurants, and on a circulator bus route. We found parking for our car easily on the street in front of the apartment.
The apartment was not huge but adequate for 4 of us. While the sofa bed was not as good as a regular bed, it was more comfortable than several others that we have slept on. I’d be happy to come back here.

Great location! Walkable to the Mall and many other tourist sites, but also easy to find a bike or scooter to rent if you didn’t feel like trekking it every day. Nice eclectic little surrounding neighborhood with lots of restaurants to explore.
Space was clean and the perfect size for our family of 4. Loved having access to a Smart TV to watch while relaxing after a day of sightseeing.
Only complaint was there was bit of an issue with tiny fruit flies from the moment we arrived. Probably hard to avoid in the summertime pretty much anywhere, but felt it is worth mentioning.
Overall a great place to stay. We would definitely stay here again the next time we’re in DC!

The location is unbelievably great. It is very close to tourist attractions such as the Capitol and Supreme Court. Just minutes walking away to metro station, which makes it extremely convenient for transportation. There are also plenty of local businesses nearby. It is an excellent choice for tourists as they can easily access popular attractions while also experiencing local life.
The unit is adorable. The interior decoration and arrangement of the room are thoughtful and have a sense of design. The household appliances are fully equipped. The facilities are very clean. The surrounding environment is quiet, and the neighbors are friendly.

The location of this apartment was very good. Many good restaurants nearby, we really liked Ruta (Ukrainian), Trader Joe’s for groceries and Eastern Market which is real market and not just a food court. The Eastern Market metro is about 7 minute walk away and 2 circulator lines also terminate at the station. We had no problem getting a street parking spot near the unit after getting a permit online which only took a few minutes. We were able to walk to the meeting spot for our Capital Building tour in about 10 minutes. It was quite quiet in the apartment as there is a park across the street separating the space from Pennsylvania Ave which is very busy. Recommended.

We had a great time in the apartment. The location is excellent; easy access to the Metro and buses, plenty of shops and restaurants around. It was also nice to have the apartment fully stocked, everything from coffee, tea, sugar, oil, spices etc. in the kitchen and soap and shampoo in the bathroom. We did not have to supplement at all. Communication was also fantastic. We would definitely recommend this apartment or any other property with Home Sweet City!

This was a gem! We were taking a mini girls’ trip with a friend and my small child came along. We slept three comfortably in the condo. Its a short block to the eastern market metro station. Lots of restaurants in the area and basic amenities. The stay was very comfortable, a little noise when the upstairs tenants came home each evening but barely noticeable. The hosts are very attentive and instructions are clear. Will definitely stay again when visiting DC.

Simply furnished basement apartment convenient to metro and shopping (several blocks away) just off of Pennsylvania Avenue (great bus service to the attractions). I’m a light sleeper and worried about people’s complaints about the noise of the water heater. Yeah, we heard it but had no problem, thanks t the white noise function on our mobile phones. The agents were super responsible about communication. Not having to worry about a key (they use a code entry) was nice. The kitchen is very cramped; it’s not a place to do more than make breakfast and reheat leftovers from restaurants. But the dining room table by the front window, bedroom facing the back, and pleasant living room made up for that liability. We would stay again.

It was exactly as described and looked just like the pictures. Instructions were easy to follow to get inside the unit. It was clean, we had a good amount of space, and we enjoyed our stay. There are lots of restaurants nearby and that was nice.

The location couldn’t have been more convenient and loved walking around the neighborhood. I will have to agree with a previous reviewer saying there are are lots of pros, but some cons. Though it worked for us, I don’t think I would stay again. HOWEVER, I would recommend to others. My biggest issue was the water heater noise and the shower. The heater is exceptionally loud and the shower is not the most relaxing. It’s difficult to adjust and sprays so hard it feels like a power washer! With a design flaw, the floor also gets soaked and there are not enough towels for 4 plus the bathroom floor. Needless to say, showers for younger ones are difficult because of this. Small issues for some but being on the autism spectrum the noise and shower made it not the most comfortable place. Again, wouldn’t stay there myself, but definitely would recommend as I don’t think those issues are dealbreakers to the convenience of this place! Hosts were also very responsive.

Understandably this was in high season because of university graduations, but the $400 a night cost should have a sufficient mattress in the bedroom. The mattress was far past it’s useful life. Most nights we needed to sleep in the reverse direction on the mattress because of insufficient support.

The listing was as described with the host providing local recommendations and detailed instructions for check in. It is street parking though there was plenty of spots in the designated zones. The only thing that was less than ideal was the water heater was very loud at night. Overall it was a great place and location!

Negative:
● Can't really use oven due to lack of window, sets off smoke alarm
● Sofa bed comfortable but squeaky
● Spare pillows very old, feathers poking out, were unusable
● Bedroom door gets stuck (expands perhaps), very loud and quite difficult to open
● Blinds in bedroom are broken, need replacing to ensure privacy when changing
● Upstairs neighbours are very loud, playing drums at early hours and in evenings (appreciate this is not within the hosts' control)

Fantastic place, fantastic location, fantastic amenities! I highly recommend this beautiful home to academic visitors and researchers visiting DC to conduct research at the Library of Congress and other archival sites and museums. This space is conducive and within walking distance of the library.

This is a super-convenient garden level apartment, within easy walking distance of the Capitol, Eastern Market, grocery stores, and the Metro. It was clean and comfortable, and one of the easiest set of directions and entry instructions I've encountered on AirBNB.

Excellent emplacement. Très tranquille et sécuritaire. À proximité de tout (station de métro ou de bus, épiceries, petits restaurants, pharmacie) à pied ou en trottinette électrique. Très propre et lieux identiques aux photos. Convenait très bien pour une famille de 4 (2 adultes et 2 enfants moins de 10 ans) pour une court séjour. Lits très confortables!
Seul petit commentaire qui ne s'applique pas à tout le monde : peu de pression dans la douche et la quantité d'eau chaude parfois insuffisante si vous ou vos enfants ont les cheveux longs.
Le service reçu était excellent! Nous le recommandons sans hésiter.

Great place close to the museums downtown and the National Mall. There are some great restaurants just 5-10 minutes walk away.
I held off from giving a full 5 stars for two modifications I think would help:
I would recommend installing a slightly bigger toilet. The seat and bowl are not quite long enough for a man to fit everything comfortably.
The tankless water heater works great for continuous hot water in the sink or kitchen, but the low flow shower head caused it to cut off after about 45 seconds in the shower. You can get around this by turning on the sink hot tap at the same time. I suspect there is an adjustment that could be made on the heater so it doesn’t cut out if only the shower is running.
Again, these are minor inconveniences, that I was glad to work around given the location and decent pricing, and no problems finding a parking spot out front each night.

This was a beautiful place for our short staying in Washington DC, the building looks very cute, we had a nice street view, the process to get the parking pass was very automated and there was always parking nearby. The decor is very inviting and really cute, we were able to make breakfast at the house, it has a well equipped small kitchen. Washer and dryer were available inside the house it is a plus. The water temperature for the shower was very fluctuating, I couldn’t shower my baby comfortably.

First time in Washington DC and it the host made it feel right at home. all the places wanted to visit was in walkable distance, and the host was always available to help with the parking process. the stay was welcoming and so comfortable. definitely going back!

Location was excellent. Space was very good for 4 guests ( 2 adults and 2 kids). Nice TV with Netflix. Nearby stores and restaurants. Small insects noted on the floor mainly at night and when opening the front door ( mentioned in property description). Washer and dryer were not cleaned well, when I mention that to the owner with pictures, they responded and offered help with cleaning next day and also offered a gift for inconvenience which was very nice of them. Overall, we liked the stay.

Home Sweet City's place is in an amazing location in DC. Easily walkable to the Capitol Building, museums, etc. Also easily access the bike stations for Capital Bike Share (super inexpensive for a day pass). On top of that, there are a bunch of local restaurants and it's a 5 minute walk to Trader Joe's.
We took four adults on this trip (2 parents + 2 older kids). This place would be terrific for a couple with small children or for just a couple by themselves. It worked well enough for our purposes but it was slightly less comfortable for four adults due to lack of seating and dedicated beds (the second bed is a foldout couch). We knew this going in (the description is clear) and we went for it anyway so no complaints – just calling it out for others. In the end, we prioritized location over comfort and it was totally worth it.

Great experience! The location of the unit is easily walkable to the Capitol and the Library of Congress. In addition, quick access the metro station, which is only within a few minutes walk away. Grocery stores and restaurants are also plentiful in the area as well. Hosts are communicative and very responsive!

The english basement was adorable and exactly what we needed for a short stay in Capitol Hill. Beds were extremely comfortable with high quality bedding and linens. Pull out couch was also comfortable. Everything was perfect including the expectations on check in and check out.

El único aspecto que quiero recomendarles mejorar es ser más empáticos y justos con los cambios de planes: Debido a un aspecto fuera de mi control tuve que acortar un día mi estadía. Hice esa modificación con más de un mes de anticipación y aún así no me devolvieron el dinero de ese día extra que no podía quedarme.
Posteriormente solicité que el día que había perdido lo añadirán al final de mi estadía, pero intentaron cobrarme ese día nuevamente aún cuando ya había pagado por el, ya que nunca me devolvieron el dinero.

Every possible need was anticipated with lamps in the right place, a well-appointed kitchen (utensils, coffee and tea, glasses and cups), temperature control options, clean towels laid out, etc. The unit was tastefully decorated and cheerful.
The only item I was disappointed in was the quality of the bed mattress; it did not provide good support.

This was a great place to stay! I would definitely return if I am back in DC. The house was clean, and they provided solid amenities. Everything was in working order, and the room was well-styled. I stayed for about a month, and the hosts were consistently communicative. The location is near the US capitol and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. Overall very good experience and I would gladly return.

First time visiting DC. Location is awesome! Walkable to restaurants and shops. FYI the shower is a conundrum. First use was my 11-year-old daughter.. she yelled out for my help five minutes in because it went cold. We turned off the cold knob and it took at least one minute to get warm again and then had to turn the cold on to regulate temperature. This happened again within the few times within a short span of 10 minutes. I took a shower the next morning very early before 8 AM.. I experienced the same thing. I stayed at many Airbnb's and this was something I've never experienced. It would've been nice to have a heads up..

Pictures speak for themselves! Great location close to US Capitol and a few restaurants. Nice walkable neighborhood. A bit noisy neighbor upstairs and hot water in the shower is not constant; it did burn my kids a couple of times!

We went for a weekend getaway and it was the perfect spot! Walkable distance to public transportation and the museums as well. I loved how easy it was to get there and get in. The hosts were very welcoming and would answer any questions we had. Will definitely choose to stay here again!

We loved this location- close to the metro station, the eastern market, lots of restaurants, and on a circulator bus route. We found parking for our car easily on the street in front of the apartment.
The apartment was not huge but adequate for 4 of us. While the sofa bed was not as good as a regular bed, it was more comfortable than several others that we have slept on. I'd be happy to come back here.

Great location! Walkable to the Mall and many other tourist sites, but also easy to find a bike or scooter to rent if you didn’t feel like trekking it every day. Nice eclectic little surrounding neighborhood with lots of restaurants to explore.
Space was clean and the perfect size for our family of 4. Loved having access to a Smart TV to watch while relaxing after a day of sightseeing.
Only complaint was there was bit of an issue with tiny fruit flies from the moment we arrived. Probably hard to avoid in the summertime pretty much anywhere, but felt it is worth mentioning.
Overall a great place to stay. We would definitely stay here again the next time we’re in DC!

The location is unbelievably great. It is very close to tourist attractions such as the Capitol and Supreme Court. Just minutes walking away to metro station, which makes it extremely convenient for transportation. There are also plenty of local businesses nearby. It is an excellent choice for tourists as they can easily access popular attractions while also experiencing local life.
The unit is adorable. The interior decoration and arrangement of the room are thoughtful and have a sense of design. The household appliances are fully equipped. The facilities are very clean. The surrounding environment is quiet, and the neighbors are friendly.

The location of this apartment was very good. Many good restaurants nearby, we really liked Ruta (Ukrainian), Trader Joe’s for groceries and Eastern Market which is real market and not just a food court. The Eastern Market metro is about 7 minute walk away and 2 circulator lines also terminate at the station. We had no problem getting a street parking spot near the unit after getting a permit online which only took a few minutes. We were able to walk to the meeting spot for our Capital Building tour in about 10 minutes. It was quite quiet in the apartment as there is a park across the street separating the space from Pennsylvania Ave which is very busy. Recommended.

We had a great time in the apartment. The location is excellent; easy access to the Metro and buses, plenty of shops and restaurants around. It was also nice to have the apartment fully stocked, everything from coffee, tea, sugar, oil, spices etc. in the kitchen and soap and shampoo in the bathroom. We did not have to supplement at all. Communication was also fantastic. We would definitely recommend this apartment or any other property with Home Sweet City!

This was a gem! We were taking a mini girls’ trip with a friend and my small child came along. We slept three comfortably in the condo. Its a short block to the eastern market metro station. Lots of restaurants in the area and basic amenities. The stay was very comfortable, a little noise when the upstairs tenants came home each evening but barely noticeable. The hosts are very attentive and instructions are clear. Will definitely stay again when visiting DC.

Simply furnished basement apartment convenient to metro and shopping (several blocks away) just off of Pennsylvania Avenue (great bus service to the attractions). I'm a light sleeper and worried about people's complaints about the noise of the water heater. Yeah, we heard it but had no problem, thanks t the white noise function on our mobile phones. The agents were super responsible about communication. Not having to worry about a key (they use a code entry) was nice. The kitchen is very cramped; it's not a place to do more than make breakfast and reheat leftovers from restaurants. But the dining room table by the front window, bedroom facing the back, and pleasant living room made up for that liability. We would stay again.

It was exactly as described and looked just like the pictures. Instructions were easy to follow to get inside the unit. It was clean, we had a good amount of space, and we enjoyed our stay. There are lots of restaurants nearby and that was nice.

The location couldn’t have been more convenient and loved walking around the neighborhood. I will have to agree with a previous reviewer saying there are are lots of pros, but some cons. Though it worked for us, I don’t think I would stay again. HOWEVER, I would recommend to others. My biggest issue was the water heater noise and the shower. The heater is exceptionally loud and the shower is not the most relaxing. It’s difficult to adjust and sprays so hard it feels like a power washer! With a design flaw, the floor also gets soaked and there are not enough towels for 4 plus the bathroom floor. Needless to say, showers for younger ones are difficult because of this. Small issues for some but being on the autism spectrum the noise and shower made it not the most comfortable place. Again, wouldn’t stay there myself, but definitely would recommend as I don’t think those issues are dealbreakers to the convenience of this place! Hosts were also very responsive.
