This was our first Airbnb experience, and my daughters really appreciated it. We enjoyed having our own private space and the ability cook ourselves or dine out if we chose. Note: truly loved the kitchen and the amenities provided. The Airbnb was centrally located to all of the sites and activities we participated in and looked just as pictured. Home Sweet City were gracious hosts and communicated with us throughout our stay. We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to stay.

Great location, walkable to many restaurants and shops. Like the listing said, people live above and are very noisy. If you plan to spend a lot of time in the bnb, the noise from above might bother you. We weren’t there much, but definitely something to consider. Overall the place was very clean and updated!

This was our first Airbnb experience, and my daughters really appreciated it. We enjoyed having our own private space and the ability cook ourselves or dine out if we chose. Note: truly loved the kitchen and the amenities provided. The Airbnb was centrally located to all of the sites and activities we participated in and looked just as pictured. Home Sweet City were gracious hosts and communicated with us throughout our stay. We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to stay.

The best Airbnb I’ve stayed at so far, the location is unbeatable, this is so close to EVERYTHING. The only thing that wasn’t awesome…there is a family upstairs and they’re walking around at 7am, you’re waking up with them. Lol So if you’re an early riser you’re fine. 🙂

No recomiendo este lugar para nada.
Las fotos no coinciden con la realidad. Cuando llegamos, al bajar unas esaleras hacia una especie de sótano, nos encontramos con el cubo de basura delante de la puerta, cosa muy desagradable.
Al entrar al alojamiento olía mal y estaba húmedo, era lúgubre. Había armarios ocupados con ropa de los dueños del AirBnB, cosa que jamás había visto antes.
El sofá donde teníamos que dormir estaba sucio, pero cuando miramos los cojines y les dimos la vuelta descubrimos que estaban infestados de pelos de mascota. Estaba así a propósito para trara de no ser visto y fue realmente desagradable y asqueroso.
También había pelos en la cama de la habitación. Fue sin duda la peor experiencia que he tenido con AirBnB.
Por el contrario, el servicio de atención al cliente de AirBnB nos atendió muy rápido y pudimos cancelar la reserva y buscar otro alojamiento.
A pesar de eso me sentí muy mal ya que era un viaje familiar y tuvimos una experiencia realmente mala.

This place is near perfection. Great location, very walkable and felt safe at all hrs. Proximity to many of the things i wanted to do was easily done by a short walk or Uber. The wifi worked perfectly and i really appreciated the washer/dryer availability.
I was asked to close the access gate upon entering and leaving which i did but there was no latch to keep it closed, unfortunately. As others have mentioned, you can hear the family upstairs which includes running and sometimes what seemed like pounding on the floor. This would start around 730am and would only be for a few minutes throughout the day but usually ended at 7pm.
However, this did not have a negative impact on my stay. If you have extreme noise sensitivity, be prepared with earplugs.
Overall, happy with my stay and would like to thank the hosts for making the home available.

I was very pleased with the aesthetic appeal of the apartment. Everything was beautiful. Very nice location. Walking distance to the metro and grocery stores. It was nice of them to have local coffee and tea for our stay.

Great place, clean, safe, just as shown in the photos. In the mornings, there’s a bit of noise from the apartment upstairs, and you can hear it a little. Apart from that, everything was excellent, and the host is very approachable. Recommended.

Nice place. Great location. Clean. Great communication. Highly recommend staying here for good location and good value. One thing to be aware of is that there are tenants above and you can hear everything. Noise maker helps drown it out. Luckily, they’re not up all night or anything, but don’t expect to sleep in. Comfy bed. I’d recommend this place to others and I’d stay again.

Great place and wonderful location. Hosts are incredibly response and very kind!!! The brochure was the most complete information packet I’ve ever seen. You do hear the footfalls of the people above sometimes, but it wasn’t a bother at all.

Great stay! I loved everything, I understand it’s a basement unit and the noise from above (both footsteps and loud kids) can be a little bit if you’re there for vacation/ trying to rest early after a long day. The bed is also a tad bit firm for my comfort — these are the only reasons for 1 star less. Otherwise close and walkable to the convention center, close to food, clean. The host was generous to give me an early check-in as well, very clear instructions for check out.

The place itself is very nice and as described. The neighborhood on a fall day was lovely with many food/shops a short walk away. The unit is a basement unit in a row house. I only mention because you will at times hear the upstairs unit. We happened to be there on a Saturday morning and upstairs must have burnt some toast because the smoke alarm went off in their and our unit. If you like a firm mattress, you might be ok, but too firm for my taste.

My family of 3 had a lovely time at Lizzy’s cozy and relaxing home. All amenities were as described and the place was very clean and comfortable. Location was in a quiet neighborhood but within walking distance to a supermarket and some nice restaurants. A metro station is less than a 5-min walk and taking Uber to the main attractions was always around a 15-20 min ride. We highly recommend this place and would book again if back in DC.

Perfect english basement if you’re visiting friends or working in the city and want to feel like you live in DC! Great location, only a block away from the Shaw metro — one quick transfer at Mt Vernon to the green line, coming from DCA (Reagan) airport yellow line. Location is walking distance to restaurants in Shaw/9th Street, 14th Street, City Center. I was working in downtown for the week and this was an easy 20-minute walk to work. The property guide was very detailed and had all the information I needed for my stay. I would definitely stay here again!

Great place, nicer than some hotels I’ve stayed. Only a 10 min walk to the convention center. A little bit of noise from people in the main house walking above you, but definitely nothing crazy. The visitor parking permits were a huge value add. If I’m back on business, will definitely look here first.

Great location. We were able to walk to and from the Shaw/U Street area within minutes. The space was clean and matched the images. Home Sweet City responded quickly the few times we had to contact them. You do hear noise from those that live above you, but it wasn’t distracting. Definitely would stay here again and recommend it to others.

Home Sweet Home team was very responsive. I had sent a few messages outside of what is typical business hours and didn’t except to hear back until during business hours. They responded within less than an hour each time.
The space was clean and comfortable. As described in other reviews a family does live upstairs and you can hear movement. However, it was always quiet by 9.30 every evening. We would definitely come stay again.

Great location and the place was nice. It’s a garden apartment and noise from the unit above was loud—sounded like a perfectly normal toddler running back and forth early in the morning and dropping things periodically, plus a meltdown every other day. Unfortunately, most activity was directly above the bedroom and there was no sleeping through it.

My friend and I were in town for internships & we highly enjoyed our stay! The place is nicely tucked in the Shaw neighborhood close to many shops, restaurants, cute parks, and transport stations. Super clean and with a full kitchen! We were impressed with the pull-out bed also! The noise that other guests mention from upstairs was not a problem at all. The place felt just like home & my friend plans to book again in the future.

Fabulous location to metro and great restaurants, I travelled as a solo female and honestly felt safe here and walked all around the Shaw area.
The host left great recommendations but I would add San Lorenzo Italian and Chercher Ethiopian which are just down the street.
I loved the thoughtful details of fully stocked kitchen, bug zapper by the front door, and a table and chairs I used outside in the evenings. Great big TV and logged into my smart TV apps with no problem. Perfect launching pad to explore DC with a super easy metro system to get around. Would *HIGHLY* recommend. Just be aware of the sounds coming from upstairs, might wake you up, but it was really no big deal while I stayed here, pretty quiet overall on weekdays.

This was a great stay! The space matched the pictures, was spacious, and had all the cooking amenities and coffee/tea you could want. The huge TV with Netflix, etc. was a big plus. Checkin and checkout were easy and smooth. The only minor downside was having to play thermostat tag with the owners upstairs (there is only one for all the levels, but the basement, where the Airbnb is, gets colder than upstairs) – however, they were very nice about it. Overall I would recommend this stay!

Had a fabulous long stay while visiting family for the holidays, although there was minor noise from children and general footsteps I was made aware ahead of time and I’d say for the most part you didn’t hear anyone. It’s a great location right in Shaw near lots of places to eat, explore etc. Definitely would stay here again

Great walkable location on a lovely tree lined street, close to plenty of restaurants and the metro line. Apartment was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed for our five day stay.
The description did mention being able to hear the upstairs neighbors, and while we did occasionally hear some walking around, this didn’t diminish our experience.

Logan circle v close with some lovely restaurants/coffee shops etc. Great for exploring the sights of DC. Hosts were extremely responsive and proactive in their communication. This was a beautiful stay. Michelle the host was very attentive and responsive. The home looked exactly like the photos and it gave you the feel of being at home away from home. We stayed here to be closer to the Walter E. Washington convention center. It was about 15mins to walk, and catching the metro at the right time could save 7mins. Very clean overall aside from some stains/hairs on the linens. Safe and convenient neighborhood. Had issues with securing the visitor’s parking pass, but luckily only had to pay for one overnight parking before being able to park for free on the weekend. Overall excellent for the price.

The apartment is located on the basement of the townhouse. It’s recently renovated with beautiful stocked kitchen and bathroom complete with amenities.
Overall very happy with the place. The family who live upstairs were a bit noisy in the morning, but this was handled swiftly and effortlessly.
Short walk to the Metro station, bus stop and local shops. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

This host was so accommodating to my requests/change of plans. Soo super helpful! Very communicative and quick responses. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. It’s a very welcoming apartment. Overall I had a fantastic stay. The only downside with the apartments walls are thin and you can hear the upstairs neighbors very clearly from the bedroom. For me it wasn’t an issue at all I’m from NYC and used to apartment living. However my BF is a light sleeper and found it was a little rough to sleep through. Overall I absolutely loved my stay and would 100% book again!

My teenage son and I spent the week touring D.C. and nearby universities. It was a great home base whether we were headed out by bus or metro. I don’t know if we could’ve found a more convenient location. Our first day was tiring because we arrived at 7:45am on a Sunday morning and had to stow our luggage somewhere. Many places close to the house were closed on Sunday, or were full. We found Yotel after a bit of trekking. We really had to push hard to make it to the 4 pm check-in time. We walked 10 tourist miles by 4. Fortunately, Trader Joe’s is really close. The home was very clean, quiet, and we liked having our own space at the end of the day. I liked the decor! We found some sheets in the bedroom closet for the sofa bed. We slept comfortably. Happy for a washing machine but didn’t buy a bottle of detergent for one load. The kitchen had all we needed to cook simple meals. The shower heated up quickly and had good water pressure. Overall we loved our stay and would stay again.

We had a great stay, the apartment is lovely: clean, bright, and true to the pictures. Very responsive hosts, they answered all of our questions both before arrival and during our stay. As some of the other reviewers have mentioned, we did hear the upstairs neighbors, but having lived in DC previously, we know it is just how all the buildings are in the city. And for us, hearing the children just made us miss our little one 🙂

This basement apartment is spacious and fully equipped. The deal I got for it was fair, especially considering its location in DC. However, the living room rug needs a thorough cleaning as there were animal hairs on it, and unfortunately, I am allergic. Additionally, please be aware that there will be children running around in the apartment above. It didn’t bother me personally, but if this is something you would prefer to avoid, it’s worth considering. Apart from these points, the apartment is in a great location within walking distance of the metro and other vibrant areas of DC.

I absolutely loved staying here! It was super private, nicely appointment, and exceptionally clean. There was a family staying in the house above the apartment, which I was told about prior to my stay, and while you can definitely hear them, it was not bad. The location is exceptional, being close to the metro, and so many restaurants and bars was awesome! I was attending a conference at the convention center, and that was only one metro stop away, which was very convenient! I highly recommend this place!

What an awesome space in a nice part of town. If I ever move to D.C. I’d ask these guys if it was available long term.
The place is spacious and nicely appointed with a nicely stocked kitchen. This is would be (literally) cool spot to stay during the summer heat.
The neighborhood is safe and peaceful , buses and metro are close by, and there are some cool local spots nearby for food and drink.
I’d definitely stay here again.

Great stay in a good location 2 blocks from Shaw metro stop, and walkable to many cafes, bars, restaurants. There is a large grocery store just 2 blocks away. Just as pictured, and looks recently renovated (but not in the cheap, hurried way). Parking pass available and makes street parking very easy! Self check in was easy and the place was very clean and neat. Communication was great, very responsive.
Only backdraw is the temp controls are not in the basement unit but upstairs in the main house so you don’t get to control that.

Very attractive unit in a nice, quiet neighborhood but near public transport. Also near plenty of commercial areas. Beds are comfortable and kitchen has everything including coffee and laundry detergent.
The noise is a real presence if you are sensitive – from upstairs and the boiler off the living room – but it was fine for us. I appreciate that guests are honest in reviews about it. The management has done all they can.
Manager is responsive and it’s spotlessly clean. Highly recommend. Nice stay.

This place is near perfection. Great location, very walkable and felt safe at all hrs. Proximity to many of the things i wanted to do was easily done by a short walk or Uber. The wifi worked perfectly and i really appreciated the washer/dryer availability.
I was asked to close the access gate upon entering and leaving which i did but there was no latch to keep it closed, unfortunately. As others have mentioned, you can hear the family upstairs which includes running and sometimes what seemed like pounding on the floor. This would start around 730am and would only be for a few minutes throughout the day but usually ended at 7pm.
However, this did not have a negative impact on my stay. If you have extreme noise sensitivity, be prepared with earplugs.
Overall, happy with my stay and would like to thank the hosts for making the home available.

I was very pleased with the aesthetic appeal of the apartment. Everything was beautiful. Very nice location. Walking distance to the metro and grocery stores. It was nice of them to have local coffee and tea for our stay.

Great place, clean, safe, just as shown in the photos. In the mornings, there's a bit of noise from the apartment upstairs, and you can hear it a little. Apart from that, everything was excellent, and the host is very approachable. Recommended.

Nice place. Great location. Clean. Great communication. Highly recommend staying here for good location and good value. One thing to be aware of is that there are tenants above and you can hear everything. Noise maker helps drown it out. Luckily, they’re not up all night or anything, but don’t expect to sleep in. Comfy bed. I’d recommend this place to others and I’d stay again.

Great place and wonderful location. Hosts are incredibly response and very kind!!! The brochure was the most complete information packet I’ve ever seen. You do hear the footfalls of the people above sometimes, but it wasn’t a bother at all.

Great stay! I loved everything, I understand it's a basement unit and the noise from above (both footsteps and loud kids) can be a little bit if you're there for vacation/ trying to rest early after a long day. The bed is also a tad bit firm for my comfort -- these are the only reasons for 1 star less. Otherwise close and walkable to the convention center, close to food, clean. The host was generous to give me an early check-in as well, very clear instructions for check out.

The place itself is very nice and as described. The neighborhood on a fall day was lovely with many food/shops a short walk away. The unit is a basement unit in a row house. I only mention because you will at times hear the upstairs unit. We happened to be there on a Saturday morning and upstairs must have burnt some toast because the smoke alarm went off in their and our unit. If you like a firm mattress, you might be ok, but too firm for my taste.

My family of 3 had a lovely time at Lizzy's cozy and relaxing home. All amenities were as described and the place was very clean and comfortable. Location was in a quiet neighborhood but within walking distance to a supermarket and some nice restaurants. A metro station is less than a 5-min walk and taking Uber to the main attractions was always around a 15-20 min ride. We highly recommend this place and would book again if back in DC.

Perfect english basement if you're visiting friends or working in the city and want to feel like you live in DC! Great location, only a block away from the Shaw metro -- one quick transfer at Mt Vernon to the green line, coming from DCA (Reagan) airport yellow line. Location is walking distance to restaurants in Shaw/9th Street, 14th Street, City Center. I was working in downtown for the week and this was an easy 20-minute walk to work. The property guide was very detailed and had all the information I needed for my stay. I would definitely stay here again!

Great place, nicer than some hotels I've stayed. Only a 10 min walk to the convention center. A little bit of noise from people in the main house walking above you, but definitely nothing crazy. The visitor parking permits were a huge value add. If I'm back on business, will definitely look here first.

Great location. We were able to walk to and from the Shaw/U Street area within minutes. The space was clean and matched the images. Home Sweet City responded quickly the few times we had to contact them. You do hear noise from those that live above you, but it wasn’t distracting. Definitely would stay here again and recommend it to others.

Home Sweet Home team was very responsive. I had sent a few messages outside of what is typical business hours and didn’t except to hear back until during business hours. They responded within less than an hour each time.
The space was clean and comfortable. As described in other reviews a family does live upstairs and you can hear movement. However, it was always quiet by 9.30 every evening. We would definitely come stay again.

Great location and the place was nice. It’s a garden apartment and noise from the unit above was loud—sounded like a perfectly normal toddler running back and forth early in the morning and dropping things periodically, plus a meltdown every other day. Unfortunately, most activity was directly above the bedroom and there was no sleeping through it.

My friend and I were in town for internships & we highly enjoyed our stay! The place is nicely tucked in the Shaw neighborhood close to many shops, restaurants, cute parks, and transport stations. Super clean and with a full kitchen! We were impressed with the pull-out bed also! The noise that other guests mention from upstairs was not a problem at all. The place felt just like home & my friend plans to book again in the future.

Fabulous location to metro and great restaurants, I travelled as a solo female and honestly felt safe here and walked all around the Shaw area.
The host left great recommendations but I would add San Lorenzo Italian and Chercher Ethiopian which are just down the street.
I loved the thoughtful details of fully stocked kitchen, bug zapper by the front door, and a table and chairs I used outside in the evenings. Great big TV and logged into my smart TV apps with no problem. Perfect launching pad to explore DC with a super easy metro system to get around. Would *HIGHLY* recommend. Just be aware of the sounds coming from upstairs, might wake you up, but it was really no big deal while I stayed here, pretty quiet overall on weekdays.

This was a great stay! The space matched the pictures, was spacious, and had all the cooking amenities and coffee/tea you could want. The huge TV with Netflix, etc. was a big plus. Checkin and checkout were easy and smooth. The only minor downside was having to play thermostat tag with the owners upstairs (there is only one for all the levels, but the basement, where the Airbnb is, gets colder than upstairs) - however, they were very nice about it. Overall I would recommend this stay!

Had a fabulous long stay while visiting family for the holidays, although there was minor noise from children and general footsteps I was made aware ahead of time and I’d say for the most part you didn’t hear anyone. It’s a great location right in Shaw near lots of places to eat, explore etc. Definitely would stay here again

Great walkable location on a lovely tree lined street, close to plenty of restaurants and the metro line. Apartment was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed for our five day stay.
The description did mention being able to hear the upstairs neighbors, and while we did occasionally hear some walking around, this didn't diminish our experience.

Logan circle v close with some lovely restaurants/coffee shops etc. Great for exploring the sights of DC. Hosts were extremely responsive and proactive in their communication. This was a beautiful stay. Michelle the host was very attentive and responsive. The home looked exactly like the photos and it gave you the feel of being at home away from home. The property was also walking distance from stores and restaurants, very close to green line metro. I would definitely stay here again and recommend others!

We stayed here to be closer to the Walter E. Washington convention center. It was about 15mins to walk, and catching the metro at the right time could save 7mins. Very clean overall aside from some stains/hairs on the linens. Safe and convenient neighborhood. Had issues with securing the visitor's parking pass, but luckily only had to pay for one overnight parking before being able to park for free on the weekend. Overall excellent for the price.

The apartment is located on the basement of the townhouse. It’s recently renovated with beautiful stocked kitchen and bathroom complete with amenities.
Overall very happy with the place. The family who live upstairs were a bit noisy in the morning, but this was handled swiftly and effortlessly.
Short walk to the Metro station, bus stop and local shops. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

This host was so accommodating to my requests/change of plans. Soo super helpful! Very communicative and quick responses. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. It’s a very welcoming apartment. Overall I had a fantastic stay. The only downside with the apartments walls are thin and you can hear the upstairs neighbors very clearly from the bedroom. For me it wasn’t an issue at all I’m from NYC and used to apartment living. However my BF is a light sleeper and found it was a little rough to sleep through. Overall I absolutely loved my stay and would 100% book again!

My teenage son and I spent the week touring D.C. and nearby universities. It was a great home base whether we were headed out by bus or metro. I don't know if we could've found a more convenient location. Our first day was tiring because we arrived at 7:45am on a Sunday morning and had to stow our luggage somewhere. Many places close to the house were closed on Sunday, or were full. We found Yotel after a bit of trekking. We really had to push hard to make it to the 4 pm check-in time. We walked 10 tourist miles by 4. Fortunately, Trader Joe's is really close. The home was very clean, quiet, and we liked having our own space at the end of the day. I liked the decor! We found some sheets in the bedroom closet for the sofa bed. We slept comfortably. Happy for a washing machine but didn't buy a bottle of detergent for one load. The kitchen had all we needed to cook simple meals. The shower heated up quickly and had good water pressure. Overall we loved our stay and would stay again.

We had a great stay, the apartment is lovely: clean, bright, and true to the pictures. Very responsive hosts, they answered all of our questions both before arrival and during our stay. As some of the other reviewers have mentioned, we did hear the upstairs neighbors, but having lived in DC previously, we know it is just how all the buildings are in the city. And for us, hearing the children just made us miss our little one 🙂

This basement apartment is spacious and fully equipped. The deal I got for it was fair, especially considering its location in DC. However, the living room rug needs a thorough cleaning as there were animal hairs on it, and unfortunately, I am allergic. Additionally, please be aware that there will be children running around in the apartment above. It didn't bother me personally, but if this is something you would prefer to avoid, it's worth considering. Apart from these points, the apartment is in a great location within walking distance of the metro and other vibrant areas of DC.

I absolutely loved staying here! It was super private, nicely appointment, and exceptionally clean. There was a family staying in the house above the apartment, which I was told about prior to my stay, and while you can definitely hear them, it was not bad. The location is exceptional, being close to the metro, and so many restaurants and bars was awesome! I was attending a conference at the convention center, and that was only one metro stop away, which was very convenient! I highly recommend this place!

What an awesome space in a nice part of town. If I ever move to D.C. I’d ask these guys if it was available long term.
The place is spacious and nicely appointed with a nicely stocked kitchen. This is would be (literally) cool spot to stay during the summer heat.
The neighborhood is safe and peaceful , buses and metro are close by, and there are some cool local spots nearby for food and drink.
I’d definitely stay here again.

Great stay in a good location 2 blocks from Shaw metro stop, and walkable to many cafes, bars, restaurants. There is a large grocery store just 2 blocks away. Just as pictured, and looks recently renovated (but not in the cheap, hurried way). Parking pass available and makes street parking very easy! Self check in was easy and the place was very clean and neat. Communication was great, very responsive.
Only backdraw is the temp controls are not in the basement unit but upstairs in the main house so you don’t get to control that.

Very attractive unit in a nice, quiet neighborhood but near public transport. Also near plenty of commercial areas. Beds are comfortable and kitchen has everything including coffee and laundry detergent.
The noise is a real presence if you are sensitive - from upstairs and the boiler off the living room - but it was fine for us. I appreciate that guests are honest in reviews about it. The management has done all they can.
Manager is responsive and it’s spotlessly clean. Highly recommend. Nice stay.
