My friend and I had a nice stay at Home Sweet City, in Washington, DC. The area is lovely; it was easy to get to many places throughout the neighborhood, and also many places nearby in walking distance. The home was as depicted in the pictures and very comfortable.

My friend and I had a nice stay at Home Sweet City, in Washington, DC. The area is lovely; it was easy to get to many places throughout the neighborhood, and also many places nearby in walking distance. The home was as depicted in the pictures and very comfortable.

Home Sweet City provided us with a great place to stay. This apartment is in a really nice neighborhood and was very walkable. We were comfortable in the apartment. Also, they provided us with an amazing response time whenever we contacted them. We would definitely return if we had the opportunity.

Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience. Although the host lists the property as suitable for up to three guests, the boiler capacity was completely inadequate—none of us were able to take a proper shower due to the lack of hot water. The host checked the system for less than five minutes in the next morning and then reported to Airbnb that there was no issue, which I found irresponsible and dishonest.
Only a small portion of my payment was refunded by the host; the remainder was reimbursed by Airbnb. This level of service and accountability is unacceptable. The property also looked quite different from the photos—clearly the result of a well-used wide-angle lens or clever lighting.
I ended up moving to another Airbnb that was significantly cheaper but far more spacious, clean, well-equipped, and—most importantly—had reliable hot water.
Save your money and look elsewhere.

We enjoyed our stay in DC, and this historic English basement apartment was the perfect homebase for my teenage son and I to explore the sites. I found having their parking pass was a huge plus, so we could bike, scooter or walk to museums and monuments.
The apartment was as pictured and had a comfy couch and bed. The kitchen was stocked with the supplies we needed to cook a nice meal.
The neighborhood was very pretty and always had people walking around. We felt comfortable and would stay again.
Spring in DC is beautiful!

Great platform for trips around D.C. 15 minute walk to the Capital Mall. 10 minute walk to Union Station which you can use to get anywhere else in the city.

We were just very comfortable in this Airbnb. We slept great, bathroom was nice, coffee was easy to make in the morning, and we were able to access all our streaming channels on the TV. It is in a great walking neighborhood accessible to good restaurants and grocery stores on H Street.

I absolutely loved the communication I had with Home Sweet City. All my questions were answered immediately before checking in. The location of the home and the amenities were perfect. We walked when we were there and we felt very safe. Everything we wanted to walk to was in walking distance. I plan on making this home my go-to place when I am in Washington DC. Thank you so much for helping to make this a perfect family rendezvous.

Very responsive. Great surrounds. Amazing host. The only thing I have to say for future guests is the stepping you can hear very early. All day and night. But if you don’t mind then this place is in a beautiful area close to everything!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was centrally located near many shops and restaurants but still felt tucked in a quiet neighborhood. The accommodations were cozy and clean. We would stay here again when back in DC.

Large Enough for our family of four (including two teen boys). Not huge, but bigger than a hotel room.
Washer and Dryer
AC that worked great!
Whole Foods nearby which made it easy to get groceries (their pre-made dinners were easy and delicious).
Lots of restaurants and metros within walking distance
The recommended luggage storage option 10/10

Con:
While the area is convenient, the closer you get to H Street or a metro station, the sketchier it gets. The homeless are aggressive (like will follow you and yell comments) and there’s a lot of police presence – including a permanent officer who patrols the inside of Whole Foods. This is by no means the hosts’ fault as we saw this in other areas of DC. I’m making mention of it so that you can do your research before visiting DC. If you’re not down with having to be a lot more careful when you’re out and about with your family, you might want to stay in a different area.

The place was close to public transportation. The bus stop is 5 min away. The place is ideal for 2 people. The kitchen is very small, but good enough to make breakfast.

My family’s trip to DC was amazing, peaceful and resting because Home Sweet City made it possible. The apt was clean, well organized/furnished like in the picture, and most importantly it had a fresh smell. Let’s talk about location, Home Sweet City’s location was just perfect and not too far from all the monuments and museums places in DC. The cost of Uber was so cheat that I was so happy I didn’t rent a car. Overall, I am so happy that I stayed in a clean apt and my kids had a great vacation. I will definitely stay in Home Sweet City anytime I visit DC.

If you want to stay on Capitol Hill/Near Northeast DC, this is the move for a small 1BR. I stayed with my wife and 19 month old and it worked very well. Close to H st. And multiple restaurants and bodegas. Super clean and two outdoor spaces to sit and enjoy nice weather. Work or play this is your next stay in DC.

Great location! Lovely safe neighbourhood with friendly neighbours all around. Easy walk to the Washington Mall with the Capitol building, Museums, and monuments. We made this a walking holiday. It was easy to access everything we needed by walking. Hosts are very communicative and had lots of great recommendations. Make sure to take advantage of the lovely patio out front. We ate most of our meals out there and got great tips about restaurants and other local attractions from people walking by with their dogs or children. Highly recommended!

Great neighborhood and much to do within walking distance. Enjoyed our stay. Obtaining and printing the parking permit was a hassle as the instructions provided referenced a video tutorial but no video was available. The instructions for the home also need updating because they listed the wrong address and it threw me off initially. Other than those hiccups, everything went smoothly.

Great place! Very clean ( spotless) wonderful location . This was a very last minute booking as we were at a dc hotel and the neighborhood wasnt great We took a chance here and so glad we did. This place had a great location …. cvs , whole foods right around the corner. Very safe, great shops, great neighborhood. Close to capital hill area . Cool little private patio out front to sit . Mini split acs new and kept space comfortable and well ventilated . Public transporation very close …. if we had more time we would have definitely tried to figure out how to use it. ( check out the trolley!) The place is small … but perfect for 1-3 people . Kitchen well equiped . Bed super comfortable ( pull out not so much but we made due) . Thx you for a great stay – We will be back!

Has everything you need within 1m of the Capital Building!
This home was one of the best in DC that I have stayed in. It has everything you need, including storage space for bags. The bathroom shelving made the bathroom habitable, the kitchen was clean and had all essentials, and the main living space was comfortable. The couch bed was even comfortable as well.
The Capital Building is 1m away, 20min walk, and the walk is beautiful.
A visitor parking pass is available and we were able to park right outside the house!
This place is the perfect accommodation for travelers.

Good location, responsive host, good for two people any more would have been a little tight, bed and pillows were very comfortable, clean but not spotless, check in was easy, checkout/departure instructions were not bad at all, had everything we needed for our stay. I would go back.

Excellent location, 1/2 mile to Union Station via F street, close to Whole Foods and CVS. As regular daily walkers we walked to most of Museums and even Arlington National Cemetery. Used gps 1st time and learned routes.

Great spot, perfect inside for a couple, well appointed. Lots of rules and cleaning instructions but maybe because host has had problem visitors in the past. Even had games and toys for kids although we didn’t use.

This was a fantastic local in DC. Right in a lovely quiet family and professional neighborhood, a couple blocks from restaurants and grocery, and a 5-10min drive from the capital. This space is a small older lower level row home Appartment that feels super comfy despite its size and also clean. The layout is well done to accommodate a small family (we had 4 people) and felt cozy but not cramped. Would definitely stay here again!

This place is in the perfect location to see DC! It is walkable to many attractions, monuments, museums, restaurants , bars, shops, etc. My girlfriend and I came to work and visit the city for the week and the space is cute and has everything you need! The hosts are extremely accommodating and very responsive. The only knock is “free street parking” is only on the weekends or after 5pm on weekdays so we stashed our car in a near by garage for the week which was an unexpected expense but the hosts/space are great!

We used the bus (x2) to get to the place from downtown but I recommend using Uber instead for safer reasons.
The place was dirty. There was a baseball cap left behind which means the cleaning crew never cleaned that area. The couch is stained and we found dead bugs in there. The bathroom tub had brown stains on it and you have to walk through the bedroom to get there which was inconvenient for the person sleeping in the pull out couch, in the living room. Overall, the walls are dirty and the whole place is not well maintained.
I don’t recommend anyone staying here if you want to stay in a clean and nice place in a great neighbourhood. It is not one of them!

Nice little spot in very nice family oriented neighborhood. Just couple blocks from the H Street retail/business corridor. Next to elementary school, so keep that in mind during school days. It did not bother us at all. I only marked 4 stars on the “clean” category due to their hand soap refillable supply under bathroom sink had tipped over and leaked over everything. We cleaned it up and notified the host. Everything worked and bed was comfortable. We parked our car in a paid garage for our duration and just walked and used rideshare to places. We did not want to gamble on the street parking/rules, etc. It was a pretty nice place overall and I would stay again.

We booked a last minute trip and were so grateful for the wonderful hosts. They were responsive and helped to ease some of the anxiety. This was a great location for our needs. The parking was a huge benefit and allowed us peace of mind to park and walk about during our stay. The house was nicely decorated, clean and cozy. We definitely plan to be back!

Location is fantastic. Loved Solid State Books practically around the corner on H Street, and Sidamo for coffee. Space was extremely tight when the sofa bed is open but we made it work for our family of 4. Appreciated the consistent proactive communication and quick response times.

This was a very comfortable stay in Washington DC. I came to town with my mom for the Pink! Concert and do a bit of sight-seeing. The apartment was a great basecamp for all of our long days out. Used Uber to get to the monuments, although very walkable as well. Very comfortable and cozy space. It was the right amount of space for two people. The ACs were excellent in the heat of summer. Check-in was very easy, access to the apartment was straightforward. Every inch of space in the apartment was utilized efficiently. The kitchen though small, has an open layout that makes it easy to find anything you might need. Bed in the main bedroom is very comfortable. Great living space with sofa bed serves as a great second sleeping space. Would highly recommend it and when I come back to DC in the near future hope to stay here again! Really responsive host, also located very near a Whole Foods and Signing Starbucks. Thank you for a great stay!

Pour : très propre. Lits (incluant sofa-lit) très confortables. Tous les appareils fonctionnent très bien. 2 espaces séparés (chambre et salon) pratique pour notre famille de 4. Très silencieux. Beaux espaces extérieurs. Proche des attractions. Quartier joli.
Contre : le transport vers les attractions via le street car de la rue H n’est pas pratique puisqu’en arrivant, il reste 12 min de marche vers les autobus ou métro. Nous avons donc pris des Uber vers les attractions alors que nous n’avions pas prévu cela. Aussi, proche de la rue H, nous avons été témoins d’événements violents (vols, bris de vitres d’auto). Nous n’aurions pas été y marcher le soir.

Great location, very peaceful setting and walkable to the metro and several local restaurants. Wouldn’t recommend this place for more than 2 people as it is small and the restroom requires guests to walk through the bedroom, around the bed, to enter. We spent our first hour after check in removing about fifteen flies that were present upon our check in which was quite frustrating. Otherwise, very clean, no complaints. Ideal for two guests.

It was a really nice place. We stayed there for 3 nights (4 people). Close to the center of city. Very quite neighbourhood. Can truly recommend if you are planning a visit in Washington with focus on sightseeing.

We had a great stay. The apartment was perfect for us. Super clean, well equipped, and a great location. We had everything we needed and we were able to easily walk to the Capital and the National Mall as well as a few restaurants and Whole Foods. The patio was a huge plus. It was a great place for a morning coffee or a drink after a day of site seeing. The apartment was quiet and peaceful. We never heard anyone above us or outside during our stay. And our host was top notch, great information when we needed it. If we return to the DC area, we would book again.

Overall good stay and key location reachable to all key places in DC.
Only thing is sofa cum bed in leaving room is not comfortable.

Great neighborhood and much to do within walking distance. Enjoyed our stay. Obtaining and printing the parking permit was a hassle as the instructions provided referenced a video tutorial but no video was available. The instructions for the home also need updating because they listed the wrong address and it threw me off initially. Other than those hiccups, everything went smoothly.

Great place! Very clean ( spotless) wonderful location . This was a very last minute booking as we were at a dc hotel and the neighborhood wasnt great We took a chance here and so glad we did. This place had a great location .... cvs , whole foods right around the corner. Very safe, great shops, great neighborhood. Close to capital hill area . Cool little private patio out front to sit . Mini split acs new and kept space comfortable and well ventilated . Public transporation very close .... if we had more time we would have definitely tried to figure out how to use it. ( check out the trolley!) The place is small ... but perfect for 1-3 people . Kitchen well equiped . Bed super comfortable ( pull out not so much but we made due) . Thx you for a great stay - We will be back!

Host was very communicative and quick with responses. The home looked exactly like pictured. The bus stops were close to the house and we even found a shortcut to the Metro.

Has everything you need within 1m of the Capital Building!
This home was one of the best in DC that I have stayed in. It has everything you need, including storage space for bags. The bathroom shelving made the bathroom habitable, the kitchen was clean and had all essentials, and the main living space was comfortable. The couch bed was even comfortable as well.
The Capital Building is 1m away, 20min walk, and the walk is beautiful.
A visitor parking pass is available and we were able to park right outside the house!
This place is the perfect accommodation for travelers.

Good location, responsive host, good for two people any more would have been a little tight, bed and pillows were very comfortable, clean but not spotless, check in was easy, checkout/departure instructions were not bad at all, had everything we needed for our stay. I would go back.

Excellent location, 1/2 mile to Union Station via F street, close to Whole Foods and CVS. As regular daily walkers we walked to most of Museums and even Arlington National Cemetery. Used gps 1st time and learned routes.
Nice neighborhood where young adults live.

This place was in a great location. The bus stops were very close and we used the bus to get around the city. This neighborhood was walkable and there was plenty within short walking distance.

Great spot, perfect inside for a couple, well appointed. Lots of rules and cleaning instructions but maybe because host has had problem visitors in the past. Even had games and toys for kids although we didn't use.

This was a fantastic local in DC. Right in a lovely quiet family and professional neighborhood, a couple blocks from restaurants and grocery, and a 5-10min drive from the capital. This space is a small older lower level row home Appartment that feels super comfy despite its size and also clean. The layout is well done to accommodate a small family (we had 4 people) and felt cozy but not cramped. Would definitely stay here again!

This place is in the perfect location to see DC! It is walkable to many attractions, monuments, museums, restaurants , bars, shops, etc. My girlfriend and I came to work and visit the city for the week and the space is cute and has everything you need! The hosts are extremely accommodating and very responsive. The only knock is “free street parking” is only on the weekends or after 5pm on weekdays so we stashed our car in a near by garage for the week which was an unexpected expense but the hosts/space are great!

We used the bus (x2) to get to the place from downtown but I recommend using Uber instead for safer reasons.
The place was dirty. There was a baseball cap left behind which means the cleaning crew never cleaned that area. The couch is stained and we found dead bugs in there. The bathroom tub had brown stains on it and you have to walk through the bedroom to get there which was inconvenient for the person sleeping in the pull out couch, in the living room. Overall, the walls are dirty and the whole place is not well maintained.
I don’t recommend anyone staying here if you want to stay in a clean and nice place in a great neighbourhood. It is not one of them!

Nice little spot in very nice family oriented neighborhood. Just couple blocks from the H Street retail/business corridor. Next to elementary school, so keep that in mind during school days. It did not bother us at all. I only marked 4 stars on the "clean" category due to their hand soap refillable supply under bathroom sink had tipped over and leaked over everything. We cleaned it up and notified the host. Everything worked and bed was comfortable. We parked our car in a paid garage for our duration and just walked and used rideshare to places. We did not want to gamble on the street parking/rules, etc. It was a pretty nice place overall and I would stay again.

We booked a last minute trip and were so grateful for the wonderful hosts. They were responsive and helped to ease some of the anxiety. This was a great location for our needs. The parking was a huge benefit and allowed us peace of mind to park and walk about during our stay. The house was nicely decorated, clean and cozy. We definitely plan to be back!

Location is fantastic. Loved Solid State Books practically around the corner on H Street, and Sidamo for coffee. Space was extremely tight when the sofa bed is open but we made it work for our family of 4. Appreciated the consistent proactive communication and quick response times.

Home Sweet City was the perfect spot for my parents, who were visiting DC and needed to stay in a clean, accessible environment on Capitol Hill. This was a very comfortable stay in Washington DC. I came to town with my mom for the Pink! Concert and do a bit of sight-seeing. The apartment was a great basecamp for all of our long days out. Used Uber to get to the monuments, although very walkable as well. Very comfortable and cozy space. It was the right amount of space for two people. The ACs were excellent in the heat of summer. Check-in was very easy, access to the apartment was straightforward. Every inch of space in the apartment was utilized efficiently. The kitchen though small, has an open layout that makes it easy to find anything you might need. Bed in the main bedroom is very comfortable. Great living space with sofa bed serves as a great second sleeping space. Would highly recommend it and when I come back to DC in the near future hope to stay here again! Really responsive host, also located very near a Whole Foods and Signing Starbucks. Thank you for a great stay!

Pour : très propre. Lits (incluant sofa-lit) très confortables. Tous les appareils fonctionnent très bien. 2 espaces séparés (chambre et salon) pratique pour notre famille de 4. Très silencieux. Beaux espaces extérieurs. Proche des attractions. Quartier joli.
Contre : le transport vers les attractions via le street car de la rue H n’est pas pratique puisqu’en arrivant, il reste 12 min de marche vers les autobus ou métro. Nous avons donc pris des Uber vers les attractions alors que nous n’avions pas prévu cela. Aussi, proche de la rue H, nous avons été témoins d’événements violents (vols, bris de vitres d’auto). Nous n’aurions pas été y marcher le soir.

Great location, very peaceful setting and walkable to the metro and several local restaurants. Wouldn’t recommend this place for more than 2 people as it is small and the restroom requires guests to walk through the bedroom, around the bed, to enter. We spent our first hour after check in removing about fifteen flies that were present upon our check in which was quite frustrating. Otherwise, very clean, no complaints. Ideal for two guests.

It was a really nice place. We stayed there for 3 nights (4 people). Close to the center of city. Very quite neighbourhood. Can truly recommend if you are planning a visit in Washington with focus on sightseeing.

We had a great stay. The apartment was perfect for us. Super clean, well equipped, and a great location. We had everything we needed and we were able to easily walk to the Capital and the National Mall as well as a few restaurants and Whole Foods. The patio was a huge plus. It was a great place for a morning coffee or a drink after a day of site seeing. The apartment was quiet and peaceful. We never heard anyone above us or outside during our stay. And our host was top notch, great information when we needed it. If we return to the DC area, we would book again.
