The place was great, very clean with super comfortable bedding. Check-in and check-out were both very easy. The neighborhood was very charming and felt safe. It’s a short walk to the Capitol building and most attractions, as well as to some excellent food spots. Street parking was simple to find right outside after getting a permit, and the hosts provided very clear instructions. Overall, a wonderful experience and I can’t wait to come back!

The house is amazing. Highly recommend it. Perfect location, very close to union station so you can move around. Local grocery store close by. If you decide to walk it’s also perfect because you can start from the capital all the way to Abraham Lincoln Memorial. Tony checked on us, making sure we’re ok and gave us some pointers. Highly safe area, we will book again.

We loved the stay we had with Home sweet City at the Explorers Paradise walk to the Capitol. Everything was great except that the washer and dryer was not functional. It is old and needs to be completely replaced.

Beautiful apartment in a beautiful home in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood. The upstairs neighbors were not loud at all and we could barely tell they were there. Beds were comfy and all amenities were provided and in abundance. Parking was easy and we took Uber everywhere around the city with ease. Walked to several restaurants and markets nearby. Check in and out were a breeze and they allowed us to check in a little early. Can’t recommend enough!

Positive: There is plenty of room for everyone to relax. Able to cook our own food. Walking distance to the Capitol and museums and mall. Clean and safe. Negative: Upstairs neighbors were loud walkers.

Overall, this Airbnb was good. It was a good location, walking distance to the capitol and library of congress etc. the sofa bed wasn’t a queen bed like the listing said, it was just a twin. The parking was a little tricky at times and you have to be pretty attentive to the signs to know if you need to move your car for street sweeping or tree trimming, etc. also, the tenants upstairs were pretty noisy each night. Lots of foot steps, furniture dragging, etc. it kept us awake most of the night the first night. After reporting it to the host, it was a little better the next two nights but still got woken up a couple times each night. If those issues don’t bother you, it’s a good location and worked out pretty good for our family of 6.

Great location, the beds were very comfortable, plenty of linen, towels, soaps. Kitchen is stocked with nice and plenty of dishes.

This place was so close to the capital and the metro. It was very convenient to walk everywhere or ride a scooter. Spacious and had all appliances for the size of the place. We were able to park right in front of Home Sweet City. We lost an AirPod in the home and were able to contact the hosts and connect us with the cleaners so we could go in and look for it. We really appreciate that!

The place space was plenty big for our family of 4. The location was exactly what we wanted and exceeded our expectations. you have a view of the Capital right outside your door and can walk to dozens of restaurants and bars. the unit was well equipped and maintained. Highly recommended.

My family had a wonderful stay at this beautiful location! When you step outside the front door, you can see Capital Hill at the end of the street. This location is walking distance to bus stop, cafe, and Staton Park with a playground. Everything we needed to have an amazing trip in DC was at this AirBnB!

Awesome location!!

This was a lovely, cozy place to stay. The Capital was just a few blocks away. There were several restaurants nearby that were worth the walk. All things considered, it was pretty quiet, which was surprising considering it was a lower level and right in the city. They provided coffee from their favorite local roasters, that was over the top.

I would rate this place five stars with a few caveats. Note that if you are traveling for work and need to have a meeting with your coworkers, or simply hang out during the day with a few friends, they will need to be added to the reservation which is super inconvenient for impromptu meetings and conferences. Also note that the upstairs neighbors can sometimes be noisy (the top unit is also rented out on Airbnb), which woke me up the last morning of my stay. Lastly, there were inconsistent instructions about taking out the trash, but this was resolved after messaging the host without issue. I do advise you to text rather than communicate on the app since they are slow to respond on Airbnb. Overall it was a lovely stay and worth it for my party. Thanks for hosting!

Perfect location. Neighborhood was gorgeous and safe. The apartment was beautiful, clean and wonderful. The only downfall to this place is the upstairs guests/occupants. The first night was extremely peaceful and nice, after that it was constant noise from upstairs. It was almost like they were just walking back and forth over and over for hours, especially late at night and in the early morning. It was hard to get a good nights rest. I would stay here again but only if it was assured that the upstairs occupants would be mindful of the noise. Other than that it was extremely nice, neighbors were friendly, and the view of the capitol building was exceptional.

The owners were wonderfully responsive and the place was very clean and updated. There was plenty of space for 3 adults and 1 child. The location feels very residential and also right in the heart of things, with a view of the Capitol just outside. Parks and libraries for kids nearby, easy bus ride to the Mall and Smithsonian museums. Owners were kind and acommodating. Great value for money!

Great spot, would 💯 recommend! Just a 9 min walk to the Capitol, 12 min walk from Union Station, and plenty of buses near by. There a few local restaurants near by, we recommend Pupatella and Pho 79 – just 2 min walk. It was nice that a few local markets (liquor stores) are near by for emergency food and snacks. We felt right at home. Just a heads-up, this Airbnb is on the lower level. It’s beautiful and has a private entrance -but you can hear all the upstairs noise (walking). So if the guests upstairs are noisy feel free to communicate with the host. They are very responsive and respectful – they’ll communicate with the other guests.

The location was amazing (just a couple blocks from the Supreme Court) and the place so comfortable and well-equipped. I arrived late at night and felt perfectly safe walking from the train station and getting into the place with ease. The place had so many extras in the kitchen, living area, and yard to make it truly feel like home. Trader Joe’s was less than a mile away, which was so helpful. I will definitely stay here again the next time I come to DC for advocacy work on Capitol Hill!

We had a great stay in Capitol Hill! Very walkable. Quiet and safe neighborhood but lots of bustle with restaurants, etc. just a couple blocks away. Very convenient to the Capitol Hill Grocery and Pupatella Pizzeria on 3rd which were both great on the evening we arrived! The apt is much easier to access than other “English basements” we’ve rented in DC – no need to crawl under the stairs! – was clean and very welcoming with lots of natural light. Beds were comfortable and shower was refreshing after a long day of touring. The kitchen was sufficient. There were only 2 of us staying, but the unit has capacity for 8 although not sure there would be comfortable space for 8 in the “living room”. For 2, we had more than enough space, each had our own bedroom, and I was able to work remotely while there with dedicated workspace. There are provided notes online – take to heart that ALL the sinks and shower have hot/cold reversed! Easy to miss. Great stay, would definitely stay again.

Great location!! Apartment itself is big ,spacious ,comfortable and equipped with everything. It is really well kept and clean.Capitol and station is near,you only need 10 minutes to walk there. I do recommend this place to others. It is worth staying there.

We loved our stay! The house is so close to everything and has great restaurants close by. We had everything we needed in the house and it was extremely clean. We especially loved the giant Uno game! We will definitely be back again.

Die Wohnung ist sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und mit allem Komfort ausgestattet, den man sich wünschen kann. Tolle Küche, sehr gemütliche Bettwäsche. Der Gastgeber reagierte auf Nachfagen sehr schnell. Um die kostenlose Parkerlaubnis sollte man sich unbedingt vorher kümmern. Diese muss ausgedruckt im Auto liegen (hierfür braucht man das Kennzeichen). Wie kommen sehr gerne wieder!

The location was perfect- safe area heavily patrolled by Capitol PD, walkable and surrounded by good restaurants. The space was cute, clean, and comfortable for a family of 6.

Clean. Convenient location to the museums, Capitol, dining, and parks. Washer was not working. Sofa bed was well worn, we did not use it. Bed, nearest the windows, in the room with double beds needs replacing as it sinks in and is too soft. overall good.

Great airbnb. Cute decor in nice neighborhood right by the Capitol. Was able to walk to some nearby restaurants. Friday night was a great stay. A little more difficult time sleeping early Saturday morning when awakened around 4am by people above for extended time but we realize that happens sometimes. Overall excellent stay and would stay again and recommend.

We really enjoyed staying at this “English Basement”. The location is perfect and the place is incredibly comfortable, clean, and welcoming. We especially loved the details such as the tea and coffee, the fluffy towels, comforters, and pillows, and the brochures for the sites and public transportation. Definitely 5 stars! We hope to return one day soon, because D.C. merits multiple trips. Now we know exactly where to stay next time we come!

We had a fantastic time staying at this property. The National Mall was extremely accessible and the area is filled with restaurants and stores within walking distance. The property was exactly as stated and the host was super friendly and responsive. I highly recommend this property to any family that is looking for a place to stay in the DC area that will be spending their time visiting locations in the National Mall.

WOW! We could not have loved this property anymore than we did. Firstly, the location is everything, especially for our work nearby. Everything was walkable, and it was so beautiful especially with the sun sets in the evening time. 10/10 recommend!! The hosts were wonderful and very quick to respond and accommodate us. We had jam packed schedules but we enjoyed our down time we had in this wonderful air bnb. We would stay here again and we thank them again for an incredible stay.

I think it was the best Airbnb accommodation I have ever used. Above all, the location was great for traveling to Washington DC, and the host was always kind to answer my questions. I used it for 2 adults and 3 elementary school students, and the space was very relaxed and nice. If I have a chance to travel to Washington DC again, I would like to stay here again. We had a great experience for 5 days! The house is clean everywhere. The kitchen is big. Beds are comfortable. Washing machine and detergent is available. It is walkable to the spots. Bicycles or scooters are around too. The host is very responsive and nice. Everything is convenient for travellers!!!

This was a perfect place for my family with kids aged 4-12. The street was surprisingly calm and quiet. Getting to a full grocery store (Trader Joes, Giant, or Whole Foods) is a bit far to walk but they have parking so it was not a big deal. We really enjoyed our stay.

I stayed here with some friends for an advocacy event & this was the ideal location for meetings in the house and senate office buildings. The neighborhood was incredibly charming and felt very safe to walk around in day or night. The apartment itself was great — very comfortable with everything we needed to make ourselves at home. I really appreciated how the apartment was laid out and that there was an iron & ironing board provided. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone visiting DC.

Wonderful and safe location! Very close to the Capitol. Perfect for families. The only small issues we had were you could hear the neighbors upstairs walking around which was a little annoying and the dryer doesn’t dry properly. Everything else was fine.

This is a very nicely outfitted 2 br English basement very near the Supreme Court and Capitol. The hosts are a corporate service, a bit obsequious yet rigid, but responsive and provided good information. We did not need anything, but given the level of detail in the apt, I don’t doubt that they would be responsive. Our only real complaint as a long-time DC denizen is that the price seems at least 25% higher than comparable apts.
