We were travelling in the US with our 3 adult children (20, 23, 28) and it was our first time in Washington. I highly recommend this place: the apartment is beautiful, spacious, clean, well equipped, good Wifi connection, well located near Capitol in a safe neighbourhood. We had everything for cooking. We did not experience noise as mentioned in other comments, it was quite quiet. Our only bad experience was with the luggage: we arrived in Washington by plane at 1 pm but could not drop the luggage before 4 pm and same problem when we left. We were proposed alternatives (for free at HSC office or in a luggage hero place) but it was not so close and difficult when you have no vehicle and do not know the city. Next time, I will pay more attention to check in/out times and planes arrival/departure times.

It was very clean. Mostly well stocked. Was a little bit farther from activities than I thought it would be. Had one cleaning issue, but they corrected it quickly. The washing machine worked great, but the dryer is not good at all. Had to run it for hours to get the clothes dry.

What a pleasant surprise. Traveling with our granddaughter who was happy and comfortable in her nicely decorated room with a place for all her little things. We had everything we needed to cook quick meals to avoid eating out 3xa day. The short walk to the park, the capital, and the Supreme Court left driving to a minimum. The neighborhood was clean and safe with patrols visible to lesson the worries of safety and security, even at and after sunset when the weather was cool and the picture taking around the capital was prime. The hosts were great and quickly responded to any questions we had. I can’t say enough good about our stay and if and when we go back we will definitely re-book Home sweet City.

Had a great stay and would recommend! The host was very easy to communicate with. The house matched the photos – clean spaces and well-equipped. House is in a good location in CapHill (residential neighborhood) in walkable distance to different areas of the city and metro centers. Two things to note: It is the basement unit, so you can hear upstairs tenants walking around, but nothing bad by any means. Also WiFi is strongest in the back of the house (kitchen, living room, hallways bedroom) since the router is in the living room. The first bedroom isn’t great for remote work since the signal is too weak to carry video calls, but we worked from the kitchen table and other bedroom desk. Would definitely stay again!

Home Sweet City is a great place to stay in DC. It is in a walking distance to the Congress, National Mall, Union Station. A nice, cozy and clean place. Has everything you need including a kitchen and some coffee-tea supplies. Communication with the host was easy and clear. We enjoyed our stay there very much. I definitely recommend it

Great stay- everything was just as described. Loved being able to walk to everything. You could hear the folks in the apartment above walking around but there was a white noise machine in our room, which was a nice touch.

Positive: – Location was amazing. Very quick walk to the Capitol, slightly longer to nearest metro. – Place was clean and quiet. Street parking was available (need to register as guest). Negative: Hot/cold faucets were backwards. Not a big deal, since they let us know ahead of time, but it did mean that the water pressure in the shower wasn’t at maximum.

The location was awesome. Safe and friendly area. We walked to the National Mall areas, the Capitol Building, and Union Station. Overall the place was exactly as described. The washer and dryer are smaller, and the dryer takes awhile to dry even a small load. However, I let the hosts know, and they are going to check into it for future stays. As others and the hosts have said, you can hear the footsteps and movement in the apartment above; however, we didn’t have any issues with it being too bad, and the hosts have white noise machines in each bedroom which also helped to drown out any noises from outside or the above occupants. The hosts were responsive with any questions I had. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay, and the location truly makes it worth it! Would definitely stay here again if we made another trip back to the DC area.

The house was exactly as described and pictured. It was right in the heart of Washington DC, with so much to see and do within walking distance. The best part of staying in this home was how kind, helpful, available, responsive, and caring the hosts were!

We got very lucky with Home Sweet City booking. Our original airbnb that we booked in July cancelled on us an hour before checking without any explanation. Sounded like they double booked, and the stress we all went trough is hard to describe. As people were landing we learned that we have nowhere to go. Very grateful that this host accepted last minute booking and got the place ready for us on time. We had an awesome stay overall. Very good host, very close to the hill (we came down for the advocacy event) and a nice place. Will definitely keep in mind for our future trips.

Unfortunately, we did not have a great experience. The unit was not cleaned when we arrived, and since check-in time is 4 pm, we had to find another place to stay. Working with Home Sweet City was manageable, and they responded within 10 minutes; they would not call to expedite issue resolution. I ended up canceling the reservation and getting a hotel instead. They did offer me a smaller place nearby, but it didn’t meet our needs. However, if the unit had been cleaned, I think this would have been a good spot. The neighborhood feels safe, and is very close to Union Station, the Capitol, Library of Congress, and Supreme Court.

We absolutely loved our stay at Home Sweet City! It was the perfect place for our family of 5. We had everything we needed and more with the space provided. We loved being able to walk to the little park, a couple restaurants, and use public transit with ease. It was close to so much and we would highly recommend this Airbnb!

The house is amazing. Highly recommend it. Perfect location, very close to union station so you can move around. Local grocery store close by. If you decide to walk it’s also perfect because you can start from the capital all the way to Abraham Lincoln Memorial. Tony checked on us, making sure we’re ok and gave us some pointers. Highly safe area, we will book again.

The place was great, very clean with super comfortable bedding. Check-in and check-out were both very easy. The neighborhood was very charming and felt safe. It’s a short walk to the Capitol building and most attractions, as well as to some excellent food spots. Street parking was simple to find right outside after getting a permit, and the hosts provided very clear instructions. Overall, a wonderful experience and I can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful apartment in a beautiful home in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood. The upstairs neighbors were not loud at all and we could barely tell they were there. Beds were comfy and all amenities were provided and in abundance. Parking was easy and we took Uber everywhere around the city with ease. Walked to several restaurants and markets nearby. Check in and out were a breeze and they allowed us to check in a little early. Can’t recommend enough!

Overall, this Airbnb was good. It was a good location, walking distance to the capitol and library of congress etc. the sofa bed wasn’t a queen bed like the listing said, it was just a twin. The parking was a little tricky at times and you have to be pretty attentive to the signs to know if you need to move your car for street sweeping or tree trimming, etc. also, the tenants upstairs were pretty noisy each night. Lots of foot steps, furniture dragging, etc. it kept us awake most of the night the first night. After reporting it to the host, it was a little better the next two nights but still got woken up a couple times each night. If those issues don’t bother you, it’s a good location and worked out pretty good for our family of 6.

This place was so close to the capital and the metro. It was very convenient to walk everywhere or ride a scooter. Spacious and had all appliances for the size of the place. We were able to park right in front of Home Sweet City. We lost an AirPod in the home and were able to contact the hosts and connect us with the cleaners so we could go in and look for it. We really appreciate that!

This was a lovely, cozy place to stay. The Capital was just a few blocks away. There were several restaurants nearby that were worth the walk. All things considered, it was pretty quiet, which was surprising considering it was a lower level and right in the city. They provided coffee from their favorite local roasters, that was over the top.

I would rate this place five stars with a few caveats. Note that if you are traveling for work and need to have a meeting with your coworkers, or simply hang out during the day with a few friends, they will need to be added to the reservation which is super inconvenient for impromptu meetings and conferences. Also note that the upstairs neighbors can sometimes be noisy (the top unit is also rented out on Airbnb), which woke me up the last morning of my stay. Lastly, there were inconsistent instructions about taking out the trash, but this was resolved after messaging the host without issue. I do advise you to text rather than communicate on the app since they are slow to respond on Airbnb. Overall it was a lovely stay and worth it for my party. Thanks for hosting!

Perfect location. Neighborhood was gorgeous and safe. The apartment was beautiful, clean and wonderful. The only downfall to this place is the upstairs guests/occupants. The first night was extremely peaceful and nice, after that it was constant noise from upstairs. It was almost like they were just walking back and forth over and over for hours, especially late at night and in the early morning. It was hard to get a good nights rest. I would stay here again but only if it was assured that the upstairs occupants would be mindful of the noise. Other than that it was extremely nice, neighbors were friendly, and the view of the capitol building was exceptional.

The owners were wonderfully responsive and the place was very clean and updated. There was plenty of space for 3 adults and 1 child. The location feels very residential and also right in the heart of things, with a view of the Capitol just outside. Parks and libraries for kids nearby, easy bus ride to the Mall and Smithsonian museums. Owners were kind and acommodating. Great value for money!

Great spot, would 💯 recommend! Just a 9 min walk to the Capitol, 12 min walk from Union Station, and plenty of buses near by. There a few local restaurants near by, we recommend Pupatella and Pho 79 – just 2 min walk. It was nice that a few local markets (liquor stores) are near by for emergency food and snacks. We felt right at home. Just a heads-up, this Airbnb is on the lower level. It’s beautiful and has a private entrance -but you can hear all the upstairs noise (walking). So if the guests upstairs are noisy feel free to communicate with the host. They are very responsive and respectful – they’ll communicate with the other guests.

The location was amazing (just a couple blocks from the Supreme Court) and the place so comfortable and well-equipped. I arrived late at night and felt perfectly safe walking from the train station and getting into the place with ease. The place had so many extras in the kitchen, living area, and yard to make it truly feel like home. Trader Joe’s was less than a mile away, which was so helpful. I will definitely stay here again the next time I come to DC for advocacy work on Capitol Hill!

We had a great stay in Capitol Hill! Very walkable. Quiet and safe neighborhood but lots of bustle with restaurants, etc. just a couple blocks away. Very convenient to the Capitol Hill Grocery and Pupatella Pizzeria on 3rd which were both great on the evening we arrived! The apt is much easier to access than other “English basements” we’ve rented in DC – no need to crawl under the stairs! – was clean and very welcoming with lots of natural light. Beds were comfortable and shower was refreshing after a long day of touring. The kitchen was sufficient. There were only 2 of us staying, but the unit has capacity for 8 although not sure there would be comfortable space for 8 in the “living room”. For 2, we had more than enough space, each had our own bedroom, and I was able to work remotely while there with dedicated workspace. There are provided notes online – take to heart that ALL the sinks and shower have hot/cold reversed! Easy to miss. Great stay, would definitely stay again.

I think you should know the upstairs tenants were very loud. Small children running, the sounds of moving furniture, etc. I stayed at this property last year and did not experience sounds this loud. Your team was very responsive to my questions prior to our stay and during.

Walking distance to the Capitol and the Mall. Download the Capitol Bike app and you will have inexpensive travel to all of DC’s attractions. The four of us, two teen boys, husband and myself, stayed here. Our boys refuse to share a bed. One teen took a bedroom and the other took the couch/bed. My husband loved the mattress in the front bedroom, but it was a bit too hard for me. The bedrooms are spacious. The entire place is fresh and clean. Airconditioning worked well. Although it is a garden apartment, I never felt the place was too dark. They have bright lighting and natural lighting was nice. Check in was a breeze. Keyless entry was very convenient. I gave every category 5 stars except the overall rating. Why? Although it has everything you need this apartment lacks the extra niceties of a 5-star place. Some suggestions to lift this great place to 5-star: – A sitting/reading chair with a side table in each bedroom. When you want a quiet room while the tv is on your only choice is a bed to sit on. – Mirrors at average height eye level w/shelf in each bedroom. There is only one place do to your hair/makeup, the tiny bathroom. There was nowhere else I could blow dry and style my hair. One of the bedrooms had a mirror/shelf, but it was very small and it was on the wall so low it was useless. I’m 5’6″. -Additional plates and supplies. There were 6 of everything, except when something had broken and not been replaced. I think there were only 5 plates, maybe it was bowls? – A set of plastic storage containers for leftovers. There were a few random storage containers of really odd sizes. When we cooked and had leftovers there really wasn’t any good containers to store them in for the next meal. – New set of tongs. The supplied tongs were tiny and silicone tipped. There wasn’t enough distance to keep me from getting burnt from snapping bacon grease and the silicone floppy tongs wouldn’t grip the bacon. I wound up using a fork. -Wipes and a small vacuum. Being there for a week things get dirty and I wanted to clean up. There was a broom/dustpan, but those didn’t work well when sweeping up bits of glass when a rootbeer bottle was dropped. I wished for Clorox wipes as well. -Dimmer switches. The canned lighting is SUPER bright. With the lights on it is as bright as NOON. It was hard to get my body ready to sleep with such bright lights. I longed for dimmer switches.

Very nice, quiet neighborhood and property. Capitol is very close but that’s about it. 10-15 min walk to train, 1 or 2 restaurants in walking distance, 1 corner market. So we had food delivered a few times. Comfortable space for our family of 4.

Very enjoyable visit to DC and just as enjoyable accommodations

This property is in a great spot. The unit was very clean and welcoming. Two of the beds are very soft, the third bed and couch are firm. Kitchen had what we needed. Corner stores close by as well as some great restaurants: Nostra Cucina and Junction. We had a small maintenance issue and the management was very responsive and helpful. If there is someone in the upper unit you can easily hear walking around. If you are a light sleeper bring eye mask and ear plugs.

We had an amazing time. Didn’t rent a car. Everything was within walking distance. We were very comfortable.

Die Wohnung ist sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und mit allem Komfort ausgestattet, den man sich wünschen kann. Tolle Küche, sehr gemütliche Bettwäsche. Der Gastgeber reagierte auf Nachfagen sehr schnell. Um die kostenlose Parkerlaubnis sollte man sich unbedingt vorher kümmern. Diese muss ausgedruckt im Auto liegen (hierfür braucht man das Kennzeichen). Wie kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Our family visited DC for my oldest son’s senior trip. The location was perfect, we appreciated the thorough guide of the city and the spacious stay. The condo is close to all of the amenities of the city! Would stay here again!

Clean. Convenient location to the museums, Capitol, dining, and parks. Washer was not working. Sofa bed was well worn, we did not use it. Bed, nearest the windows, in the room with double beds needs replacing as it sinks in and is too soft. overall good.
