The unit was clean and comfortable. Parking was very accessible. The area felt safe and was quiet. The homeowner was very kind when we ran into him outside. The utilities were functional. Towels and linens were clean and fresh. Management was very responsive and helpful. Complimentary soaps, coffee and tea was a bonus. Also, the outdoor cats were adorable! The team and I would most definitely stay again! Big thanks from us!

They don’t give you enough characters to rave about the hosts. Michelle took great care of us. No complaints only praise. 5* Tucked away was very cool. Although late when we arrived. Was 11pm & followed your details/instructions. I used the same for food delivery (if person read it) Door dash totally blew it leaving next door porch or on house front porch & instacart deliveries (1st one instacart Emily got there w out prob in rain) Others left on house porch. Might I suggest a stick with bumble bee by left side walkway to visually assist those who didn’t read the instructions or call for us & we’d come out. It’s nice back there peaceful so I only suggest a 🐝 🐝 on stick either side of path to white gate may help those who think they read it all but didn’t. Michelle &team are top notch can’t wait to come back! No way we use another host after this spot. Spacially spoiled. 💜 Astazia & Richard

Our family had a wonderful visit to the area with these accommodations serving as home base. A note of caution, my family is not accustomed to English basements and we didn’t realize how low the ceilings are. My husband is 6’5” and had to duck through the apartment or face the consequences. 😜 Otherwise the space was fabulous.

The space felt like a cozy home away from home. Loved the decor and all of the touch-forward textual elements of the design. It’s close to the dollar store, and easy to get into the city by uber. Definitely heard people upstairs, but that was noted by the host and expected. Met one of the hosts unintentionally and it was a pleasant interaction. Would stay again!

Good stay, very clean. The sleeper couch was good the first couple of nights but the 3rd and 4th night it was getting uncomfortable which I expected. It is in a basement so you do hear the footsteps of everyone above you but that didn’t bother me too much. There are also strict rules on separating the recycling from trash which I wasn’t used to since we don’t recycle as much in my state, but that may be normal to other people! Overall I can’t complain and got this place on a discount so I was happy!

Awesome stay.

This home is lovely, quiet, clean and very comfortable. The bed and linens are great – I actually looked forward to getting into them each night. The kitchen amenities of coffee, sugar, creamer are very welcome in the morning. There is virtually no noise from the family upstairs. There was always a parking spot right by the home. Plenty of walkway lighting. The only note for the host is perhaps to add lighting at the bottom of the steps leading to the entrance which is dark at night. I will stay here again for certain. Thank you for the hospitality!

Great location and comfortable/clean home…

This was the nicest Air BnB we’ve ever stayed in. It was spotlessly clean, spacious, well heated, had nice amenities, and we really appreciated the lack of scented items. We communicated with more than one person during our stay, which was a little confusing but didn’t impact the service. They were very responsive when asked for anything. We did hear the pitter patter of little feet above us occasionally but it was so minor as to be hardly noticeable at all. Evaluating the neighborhood was hard because we arrived during the Snow-pocalypse. We were warned by the host that parking would be impossible, and appreciated the heads up. We ended up Ubering everywhere or walking. We walked to a really nice coffee shop (Zeke’s) that served organic coffee, and I’ll bet it’s a great neighborhood when it’s not 15 degrees out and everything covered in cement-like snow. We’d definitely stay here again and will recommend it to friends headed to DC.

We were visiting friends who live about a mile away from this location and it was perfect to go to and from there (with a car). Hosts were very communicative and conscientious about noise that may have come through, though we did not find it to be an issue.

The location was very convenient for us since we were visiting family in the neighborhood. On street parking was easy. Very quiet neighborhood and within walking distance to restaurants.

This is a basement apartment with access from the back/side yard of the house. Yes, you will hear occasional footsteps above you, but only for brief periods now and then. If that is going to bother you, then it’s probably not for you. That being said, once inside it feels nothing like a basement apartment; it looks and feels like a spacious one-bedroom condo. The entrance to this unit perfectly captures Frank Lloyd Wright’s concept of “compression and release.” The owners also have an attic-level rental if that is more to your liking. Owners couldn’t have been nicer, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. They really went above and beyond. One thing that I always hope for in rentals is that they will at least have some basic necessary things, like salt & pepper, paper towels, dish soap, laundry detergent, a coffee maker with filters or a Keurig and at least enough coffee for the first morning, etc. If I have to go buy all of those items for a two or three day stay, I’m not happy. I’d rather just be in a hotel. This apartment had all of those things and more. All I needed to do was pick up some groceries. That’s what I expect, and this apartment met or exceeded my expectations in every way.

This was a good location for a small family. Basement apartment so there were some sounds from upstairs but the host explained they had guests over that weekend. Would be mindful to ask if you have young kids that get easily scared. Park nearby, walkable breakfast spots, corner stores, etc. and the location was clean overall. It’s possible I missed where they stated that the crib is an extra charge which I wish I had known so I could bring my own pack and play so just make sure to ask about what’s included and what’s extra.

What a great place to stay when visiting Washington. The location was peaceful and quiet. The home was exactly as pictured in the Airbnb app. The pricing was super. The owners live upstairs and were very helpful. We enjoyed talking with them and they were so kind to invite my granddaughters to play in their backyard. I highly recommend staying at this location. The Uber into Washington ran from $12-$17. metro was about a 20 minute walk away. We will be back and look forward to staying in this location again.

We came to see our son graduate from Georgetown and spend some time in the city and this space was perfect – very clean, spacious, nice amenities, easy parking, quiet neighborhood. Sometimes we took an uber and sometimes drove around but all worked out well. Very pleased with our booking – thank you!

I would say pretty solid location, everything was within 15-20 minute uber. The place was freaking SPOTLESS. It was so nicely decorated, you could tell time was spent curating. Everything worked perfectly. My only complaint – it is someone’s basement at the end of the day. I could hear their whole conversation and bet they could hear mine. I also heard their foot steps all night.

The property is very nice and well maintained- there is ample car parking (even with construction) and it’s really easy to get to via car. The only reason I gave the review 4 stars is that it is a basement apartment and the upstairs is **really** loud, even when they don’t mean to be- this is just a thing with this type of living space. But there were constant noises from above and that was disconcerting. I think this would be a great place to stay if you actually have a partner or friends (not loud) because I don’t think that those noises would be annoying or bothersome to a party making their own totally normal noise. But to a single person in town for work, it was a bit distracting and made it hard to settle in the evening.

We loved staying at Top of the Town! The apartment was spacious, comfortable, clean, and convenient! The apartment is larger than the pictures show with one bedroom, one bath, kitchen, and a large living space. The apartment was spotless and the bed and furniture were comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and the bathroom is stocked with hand soap, body soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Paper products are provided. We were so impressed that the apartment looked AND smelled clean! This is a basement apartment with no moisture or funky smells. The apartment is conveniently located on a beautiful street with street parking. We met the owner and they were incredibly kind and gracious!! We will stay here again!! Thank you!!

This was a decent, clean, property to stay at but also needs some improvement in some areas. The main area is spacious! Loved the big couch and the kitchen table. The main bedroom is small but cute and clean and good for a long weekend stay. Plentiful parking. The property company was helpful and quick to respond.Accurate description on having bus stops very close! But takes a good 50 minutes to an hour to get to touristy D.C. The bus goes through some nearby shady looking areas and therefore will have some interesting people on the bus. No issue to us but others may be surprised.As the listing noted, you can hear most everything from the family above, especially if they are in the kitchen. I would suggest a door on the unusable staircase to muffle the noise.For a million dollar home, I was surprised to see how much the bathroom needs updating and the plentiful amounts of scuffs on the walls. I was tempted to find a magic eraser! Also, the washer and dryer sound like they are going to break any minute. Would we stay again? Probably not but still a good place for the price!

Good location, cozy place

The only item we had was that the family living in the main part of the house can be heard walking as the floors are wood. It is very loud at night and makes it hard to sleep.

Great place overall. Renter was very nice and responsive to toilet leak repair request and fixed it less than 24 hours. The upstairs noise was a little louder than expected per rental description.

We enjoyed our time at Top of the Town. The apartment was comfortable and clean, with plenty of space for three people. The pull-out bed in the couch in the living room was comfortable for our teenager. There is a bus stop two blocks from the rental, which connects to metro stations for easy commuting around town without having to drive everywhere.

Our stay was delightful. We really enjoyed the smart Nordic design, bright and comfortable rooms and thoughtful details of this little apartment. I was in DC to have surgery – the accommodations were perfect for our needs.

Property was as advertised. Worked so well for my husband and me and our adult daughter. Comfortable, appreciated the extras…plenty of paper towels, toiletries, garbage bags…things that other places seem to skimp on. Communication was great. Recommend a brighter light on the side path into the home at night; have your cell phone flashlight on. Also REALLY appreciated the parking – no need for a pass!

The basement unit was very lovely. Early 1900s home in a charming neighborhood. There was no assigned parking, but it was not permitted and there was plenty of street parking so we had no worries there. The hosts were lovely. They actively live in the main floor of the home above, but were very considerate! They even reminded us to move our car to prevent a ticket during street cleaning hours – we misread the sign… This is not a downtown home by any means but it is in a safe neighborhood in DC with plenty of things within walking distance. Highly recommend!

The basement apartment was well furnished with all the necessities and amenities, including a hair dryer. Communication with the host was very good and they were responsive to my questions. Best thing was the parking which is free on the one-way street while we were there.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The property is a short drive from the Fort Totten metro, with plenty of food and entertainment nearby. Ample space and certainly not lacking in amenities. We appreciated how communicative the property manager was and how accommodating they were as well. We would stay here again without a second thought.

Very nice basement apartment. Everything was clean upon arrival. You do have to climb down narrow stairs to access, so our roller cases were difficult to bring into the apartment. We are seniors, so it was a struggle. Parking is on the street in front of the house. You have to pay attention to road cleanings, and move your car to the appropriate side of the street. Overall, it met our needs. 😊

We had a great time with our kids for their first trip to DC. There was easy access to parking, getting in and out of town, lots of places close by to eat or shop. This was a perfect spot for our family to rest our heads after a long day of exploring.

The place was great. Even as presented online! Very spacious. Very clean and updated furnishing. Lots of options for television entertainment. Kindness and helpfulness of the owner was much appreciated. Our only suggestion is to get a railing for the steps going to the lower level.

The apartment is very clean and in a nice neighbourhood in Uptown DC. The kitchen is well equipped and it was great to have access to the outside patio. The parking outside was also a great bonus. One thing to note for tall people is that the ceiling is quite low so remember to duck! (My partner banged his head on the beams multiple times). Would recommend for a neighbourhood stay in DC.

Close to bus stop and downtown. Bright space for a down stairs apartment. Construction in town and on the street during our stay to a little adjustment but great place!

I had set up this stay for my parents when visiting. Illness prevented them from visiting unfortunately. However, the Property manager/owner stayed in contact with us the entire time and was very easy to work with. She was willing to refund the cleaning fee & other built-in fees which was much appreciated. I would absolutely try to book this again with her.

Very nice location with easy access to street parking. The rooms are clean and the decorations are stylish (the coasters look nice). The place is family friendly as well. Lizzy and Michelle are super supportive and communications are mostly up-to-date. Although the terrible traffics did cause some issues when we checked in, everything turned out to be beyond our expectations.

We loved the basemant apartment. It was a great alternative to staying in a hotel. Almost like being at home. I would choose this place again on my next trip to the area if it is available.

It is great place to stay when you’re at DC. Only annoying thing on first day was internet which was not working at all. I couldn’t surf anything online. Next day host acted promptly and solved the problem.

The apartment was incredibly spacious, clean, and very well-stocked. The kitchen had everything we needed, including lots of spices and baking supplies. There was ample storage, plenty of street parking, and a short drive to downtown/restaurants. It was quiet, private, and a great space for 2 people. The hosts were very responsive, friendly, and very considerate. We had a great 2 week visit and would stay here again!

I just loved my stay here. The neighborhood is charming and borders Rock Creek Park, part of our National Park Service. The place, itself, was beautiful, spacious and very relaxing. I used it to get some work done and was super productive here. The family that owns the home are friendly, fun people. If you get to strike up a conversation with them, do. Should I need a place to stay in DC again, this one is at the top of my list.

Quiet neighborhood, lots of space. Parking on the street is easy. Bed was comfortable and there was a ton of room in the living room for a kiddo. It’s a hike to the metro but worked for us since we were driving. The house was clean, but it is a basement so just know it’s going to be a little basement-y, but nothing off putting. There were a lot of windows too so that helped. Good spot for families and overall nice place for a stay. Would recommend.

This place is amazing! I loved how the apartment was decorated; felt very comfortable and homey inside. The place is actually a lot bigger than I thought too! We rented the Lime bikes and biked into DC. It was about a 30 minute bike ride. The kitchen had literally everything you need to cook meals. Very well equipped! The bed was also very comfortable, I’ve stayed in a lot of Airbnb and I feel like a lot of them had uncomfortable beds. Parking was very easy, it’s street parking but the neighborhood is very quiet and there’s not much traffic. We parked right in front of the house. Over all this apartment was definitely one of the better airbnbs I’ve stayed in and I highly recommend to anyone!

Most of the reviews are accurate. Here is the honest picture: Stayed mid Sept for a week. There are flies, mosquitos, and a smell in this basement unit. It was presentable and decently furnished and sized. No water other than tap. If you enjoy quiet, don’t stay here. Every morning at 6a you can here the people that live upstairs very clearly. It sounds as if they are in the other room in your unit. The noise usually continues until after 9p. You can hear running, loud noises (sounds like furniture moving), microwave, blenders, etc VERY loudly. I ended up leaving a day early because I couldn’t take it anymore. If those things don’t bother you, this place is worth a look and the host is responsive. They just need to fix some things to make this spot 10/10

Most of the DC rentals are basement apartments, but this was the first one we’ve stayed at that didn’t feel like a basement. It was spacious, even for our family of four, and very cozy. The air conditioning works great, the sofa bed is decently comfortable, and the TV is enormous. The neighborhood is lovely and quiet, and though it’s about a mile from the nearest Metro station, we ended up renting scooters to shorten the trip. Super fun! Bring earplugs if you are very sensitive to noise, because you will hear the family upstairs early in the morning.

Went to DC with my niece for a lil vacation. Hosts were very nice and responsive. Our flight was delayed by 6hrs so we didn’t get in until 2am. The hosts were very accommodating and understanding. Gave great recommendations for things to do around DC. The home is in a nice residential neighborhood. Very peaceful. However, the drive down to the monuments and other tourist things is about 15-30m depending on traffic. This is a basement apartment, so there is a distinct old smell. Steep stairs down and it’s very wet by the door. So you’ll experience mosquitoes and flies. The Kitchen is a decent size. Has everything you need . Just FYI, there were a lot Flies in the apartment. They like to congregate by the kitchen/living room/bathroom windows. So we killed a lot on our first night and throughout our stay. They are getting in somehow. Bathroom is older and no fan. Leave the window up. The water did not taste good. So bring bottled water. If you have allergies, bring a Claritin/Zyrtec

the house is located in a private neighborhood but quite close to all attractions, we arrived late at the night and the street parking was easy to find, the unit was just as advertised and surprisingly more spacious than we expected. The host was very responsive and helpful for our requests, we appreciate that. Recommending to everyone who is traveling to DC.
