“My husband and I have stayed in several English Basements in the D.C. area, and we can say in comparison that the layout of this property is hands above others we have rented. The beautifully appointed floor plan, complete with a full modern kitchen, creates a spaciousness that optimizes the square footage under 600 square feet. Decor wise it is beautifully appointed with modern furnishings, a comfortable queen size bed, and a surprising amount of storage that you would not otherwise expect. There is an impressive walk in shower and designated closet space with washer and dryer. Updated, clean and conveniently located (10 minute walk to the Capitol). Perfect for two people. Be prepared for low ceilings and occasional pitter patter of feet and voices carrying from upstairs – very common for any English basement apartment. But for this property, as long as everyone adheres to noise rules, I ensure you will have a wonderful stay! Side note: the management is responsive and easy to please”
“Positive:
– Location was amazing. Very quick walk to the Capitol, slightly longer to nearest metro.
– Place was clean and quiet. Street parking was available (need to register as guest).
Negative:
Hot/cold faucets were backwards. Not a big deal, since they let us know ahead of time, but it did mean that the water pressure in the shower wasn’t at maximum.”
“Positive:
Amazing location for access to Union Station, the metro, and the National Mall. Clean and comfortable. We used both the kitchen and the washing machine and had no problems. The door code was perfect so we didn’t have to worry about a key. Lots of restaurants and a grocery store within easy walking distance. The free parking pass for the neighborhood was amazing, although, you don’t need a car if you’re just here for the city.
Negative:
Not a dealbreaker but something to note: we visited in January and the floor was quite cold. The apartment was fine with the heat running, but it’s a semi-basement unit so bring slippers. Might be great in the summer though!”
