The place was clean. Even though the AC didn’t work, they sent fans. The parking was a little walk coming from a state where we park in front of our home. The toilet was clog at times, then eventually flush. The unit was okay for its price!

Great place to stay for a couple. Quiet, in a nice residential area. Very good and frequent bus connections to two Metro stations or other destinations in DC. Easy walk to the DC Zoo. A nice hike away from the Hillwood estate.
Nicely furnished and equipped apartment with all you need for a pleasant stay.

Loved my stay here! It was super close to the zoo. I had everything I could possibly need. The hosts communicated so well and were super helpful with anything I needed. The apartment was amazing. So clean and well organized! Would love to stay again when I’m back in DC!!

A comfortable studio apartment which did everything I needed it to. Communication from the host was plentiful, proactive, clear and helpful. The location is super peaceful and felt safe. Easy connection to local transit with buses almost outside the door.
It’s a basement apartment so not a lot of natural light. There are also family noises from the home upstairs. Neither of these were an issue for me and were explained clearly in the listing. In fact, they were less noticeable than I expected so I was happy with my choice.
Recommended as a good value, comfortable place for a short stay in DC. Thanks for hosting me.

What a wonderful place to stay when visiting DC! Even though the apartment is a basement apartment, it’s so well lit, and everything is provided so nicely for us. The landscaping was beautiful, everything was just right. Very responsive hosts, we had a wonderful time! We hope to stay here again.

Knowing Mount Pleasant as a very beautiful neighbourhood with a cosmopolitan atmosphere, the appartment surprised me as a super clean and perfectly equipped place to stay, with every privacy I could want. The description given were acurate, replies fast and adorned with a general friendliness to guests. In my next visit to Wahington I will certainly look if this place is free to host me once again.

Our stay was a pleasant one. We found the place to be perfect for the occasion we were there for, which was for a little getaway from our city. The location of the home was also great and was not too far from the places we planned to visit. The neighborhood and surrounding area was also pretty and quiet. The home was clean and super cute! Overall, we really enjoyed our time in DC and this place added to the experience.

This was the second time we have used the apt. 1st time in Sept and was great! This time in April the heater created 3 different overhead knocking sounds that woke us up 3-4 times through the night. Loud banging on metal like a golf ball dropping at irregular times, followed by tapping then knocking from the other side of the ceiling/duct.

We’ve stayed at Home Sweet City listing in Mount Pleasant multiple times. This was our first stay at Tropical Paradise.
We appreciate location close to our family since we visit a couple times a year. Home Sweet City is our preferred host! They offer high standards of cleanliness in linens, bath and kitchen with quality amenities. Appreciate local coffee/tea supply! Nice to have King bed option too!
The neighborhood is picturesque and the walkability to Elle’, Purple Patch, markets, parks, and Smithsonian Zoo are highlights.

Conveniently located and clean. Parking is a bit of a challenge but that’s all of DC! Nice basement walk out apartment with everything you’ll need. Comfortable stay with smart use of space. Hosts were terrific and communicated well.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the apartment was just what we needed for our trip. It was beautifully decorated and comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked with everything for cooking with some extras including a water filter and complimentary tea and coffee. The place was squeaky clean and nice and warm when we arrived. The bus to the metro station stopped right outside the apartment which was ideal as we were attending a conference every day downtown, and it was only 30 minutes to the city centre. There is not so much natural light in the apartment but this wasn’t a problem because we didn’t spend much of the daytime there. Home Sweet City are also very helpful and responsive. I would certainly recommend this place!

Our stay was wonderful! The space is perfect for one or two people and it has everything you need – fridge, microwave, stove- and the most comfortable bed. It’s a quiet and peaceful location in the middle of DC with many restaurants and stores nearby. The hosts were super attentive and responsive. Thanks for a great stay! Will definitely stay here again.

We were extremely happy with our stay. The pictures really sold it. Everything was exactly as described in the description.
There are a lot of nice touches such as soft towels, charging station for our phones, a separate work space with a desk and lamp, and the use of organic products such as hand soap and shampoo. The place was very clean and had everything needed for a perfect stay!!
The location was great and within walking distance to wonderful coffee shops and restaurants. We parked the car and used public transportation the whole time. The bus stop was just a few steps from the Airbnb!

This is such a quiet yet convenient location to be right in the middle of DC! The neighborhood is walkable to a few major attractions, like the Smithsonian Zoo and Columbia Heights neighborhood, and getting around with uber/public transportation was also so easy! Super convenient place to stay if you’re looking for easy access to downtown DC but don’t want to stay in the middle of a ton of crowds. I would definately stay again!

Great stay! Super close to Rock Creek Park and the zoo. Private entrance, ample kitchen appliances and bathroom supplies to make the stay comfortable and functional. You can hear the people that live in the house above for sure but never to the point of being an issue.

The apartment is clean a and well appointed. Loved the thick bath towels! The location is Mt. Pleasant is perfect. A couple of things to note: The apartment is very dark, even for a basement apartment. The windows are tiny and under an overhang, so if you need natural light this might not be a good choice for you. Also, if you are noise sensitive (as I am) then you might have a problem with the noise from the pipes hammering above you, especially in the early morning. bother than that, the apartment met our needs.

Hi,
i was doubting between a 4 or 5 star rating. We only have two comments, the first and minor is the very soft mattress, which is off course a personal preference but did impact us. Since this is personal i feel i can not “deduct” points for that fact. Same for the fact that you can clearly hear the upstairs neighbours which also use the lower level for their washer/dryer (just separated by one door).
The real issue is the AC, which can hardly be used, old, barely reachable controls (you need a childs hand), no temp settings (the instructions on leaving however ask you to set a certain temperature??), and once you get it set that is starts cooling a bit, it is way too loud. So either none or very noisy. We could open the little windows at night since it was mid March, not sure how you do it in summer or winter (heating was nearly as noisy). Since we decided to use it very seldom, the rating is still 5 stars.
Overall great place, well equipped.

The apartment is clean and well taken care of. It’s located in a peaceful neighborhood that’s family friendly and walkable. Communication with the host was excellent. The only downside to the apartment was the lack of natural light. Which I guess is not a problem if you’re out exploring the city during the day, but not ideal to work for several hours.

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights and it was great! Street parking was a huge plus here and the instructions made it super easy to find. There was a full kitchen which was great for us and we used some of the local recommendations. Overall the experience was good and it was exactly as listed! Also was in a nice neighborhood which was easy to drive and walk in.

Great private studio! Do bring earplugs as sometimes you can hear noise from upstairs. Also, there is no washer and dryer available. Apart from that, the place is beautiful and the king size bed was perfectly comfortable.

I recently had the pleasure of staying in this home for 5 nights and it exceeded all my expectations, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in a fantastic location. My partner and I decided to drive to the location at the last minute and was pleasantly surprised by the ease of finding street parking. It was a huge relief not to have to worry about parking.
The apartment itself was a true gem. The pictures online were spot-on, capturing the essence of the space with complete accuracy. The decor was tasteful , modern and inviting, creating a warm and comforting environment .
One of the highlights of this Airbnb was its location. It was conveniently situated near many popular spots, making it easy for exploring the city. Whether I wanted to visit a museum, enjoy local cuisine, or simply take a leisurely everything was within easy reach 8-15 mins.
Had no problem during my stay, the hosts were responsive & Kind . Would recommend this home 🙂

Wonderful host and a great stay! I was here for 3 days on a conference and the location is in a great area, it’s a beautiful place to walk around, and the AirBnb itself was spacious and welcoming. I took a half hour walk towards downtown during my stay and it was absolutely beautiful. Other reviewers were spot-on about the upstairs noise, but I never found it bothersome or exceptionally noisy. If you’ve lived in a downstairs apartment before, you have nothing to worry about. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay and I highly recommend staying here!

Home Sweet City provided a clean, comfortable and safe space close to the Mt Pleasant neighborhood. Enough dishes, pots and pans to prepare a full meal, and a big super comfy bed.
They were accommodating and flexible with any requests. I would certainly stay again on my next visit to DC.

This was a great little place for three nights. It is in the basement of a family home so you have to expect some noises from others living there. Nice little kitchen, great light in the bathroom with wonderful water pressure. Extremely clean! Home Sweet City was very responsive when I had issues with the air conditioning and the lock. I would caution that when locking the outside gate, you need to keep a finger right next to the key to get it pulled out. Also, if you use the address 3236 Walbridge Pl NW you will be just steps away down the alley instead of all the way around the corner. Wonderful neighborhood, lots of families and people walking dogs. This was a tremendous value (a third of what hotels wanted) and a great place to stay. It also has no steps which was great since I’m currently utilizing a cane.

The apartment has everything you need for a short stay (we were 9 days) in a beautiful environment – the entrance is in the back of the house and it is the basement but once you are inside it is perfect and the area is great. We would stay in this place again with no doubt in our minds.

We loved our stay here! The location was great and the studio was perfect for 2. The bed was comfortable, shower was hot with great water pressure, and there is everything you need in there — no doubt! Also, the hosts were quick in their responses and were pretty accommodating.
My only comments would be that you can hear most of what happens on the floor above you, even when they flush. This wasn’t a big deal for us (and this is pretty standard for a basement unit), however sometimes it woke us up at 3/4 in the morning or made it hard to fall asleep. Also, since there is no screen door, lots of mosquitoes and other bugs got in whenever we opened the door. So pack bug spray. Other than these downsides, I would certainly stay there again and enjoyed my stay, no less.

This place was great! Beautiful location, walkable to delicious brunch and dinner spots, friendly neighbors. Also stumbled upon a cute farmer’s market Saturday AM. Short Uber/metro ride to tourist spots in DC.
I will echo another guest’s comment about trouble finding the space at night. Despite the detailed instructions, both my husband and I did struggle to find the place. Once we did, though, it was easy to get in!
Very clean, extremely comfortable bed, nice shower and provided supplies. Hosts were communicative and friendly! We had some miscommunication about some of the amenities but they addressed it quickly. Great spot for a single traveler or a couple. Would definitely stay here again!
FYI: if you get food delivered, just have them call and meet them out on the street in front of the house. It will be much easier!

We had a lovely stay in this wooded area of DC. We enjoyed walking to the National Zoo and to shops and restaurants on Mt. Pleasant Ave. We wished there would’ve been a microwave in the kitchen to heat things up, but we made due. Great communication from the hosts who responded to our questions.

A/C unit was very loud and check out instructions were confusing regarding the room temperature since it wanted you to set within a certain range, but degrees were not on the unit settings.

Overall, the stay was nice! I liked the area and I loved the recommendations offered by the host were great – it allowed me to walk around and get to know the neighborhood. The place was very clean, was stocked up, and had great decor.
It was a little smaller than expected, just understand you’ll only have access to the first floor which is located at the back of the home. But if you’re just one person, it will be good enough – very spacious and homey! You can hear your neighbors, especially in the morning so be weary of that. I loved that they had cookware & silverware, so you could make a meal. Only thing I didn’t see was a microwave, so I just heated up things on the stove.
It is a bit a hard to find though and it was especially hard for me cause I arrived at night and wasn’t super familiar with DC. There were times where I got dropped off at the wrong place. So, that was definitely a little stressful but most of my stay was smooth. And the hosts were responsive and kind!

Was in town for a couple of days to participate in some tributes to my late Uncle Billy Strayhorn at the Library of Congress. The Home Sweet City’s listing was such a great haven after my long days of meetings, movie premieres, and concerts. The space was spacious, clean, and had great amenities. Liked the space with the desk as it afforded me to work remotely during my stay. WiFi was also pretty stable and reliable. The Hosts were great and timely in responding to my questions. The place is located on a bus line that connects you to the train station, and some major stores (Target/Old Navy), banks (Wells Fargo), and restaurants.

My stay was very peaceful. The host was extremely proactive with providing all the information I needed to access the place and have a comfortable stay. The home was very neat and packed with supplies. I would highly recommend this home.

We had locked ourselves by accident out of the bathroom and the response was extremely quick and very friendly and we were not charged anything even though it had been our mistake.

Great stay! Super close to Rock Creek Park and the zoo. Private entrance, ample kitchen appliances and bathroom supplies to make the stay comfortable and functional. You can hear the people that live in the house above for sure but never to the point of being an issue.

The apartment is clean a and well appointed. Loved the thick bath towels! The location is Mt. Pleasant is perfect. A couple of things to note: The apartment is very dark, even for a basement apartment. The windows are tiny and under an overhang, so if you need natural light this might not be a good choice for you. Also, if you are noise sensitive (as I am) then you might have a problem with the noise from the pipes hammering above you, especially in the early morning. bother than that, the apartment met our needs.

i was doubting between a 4 or 5 star rating. We only have two comments, the first and minor is the very soft mattress, which is off course a personal preference but did impact us. Since this is personal i feel i can not "deduct" points for that fact. Same for the fact that you can clearly hear the upstairs neighbours which also use the lower level for their washer/dryer (just separated by one door).
The real issue is the AC, which can hardly be used, old, barely reachable controls (you need a childs hand), no temp settings (the instructions on leaving however ask you to set a certain temperature??), and once you get it set that is starts cooling a bit, it is way too loud. So either none or very noisy. We could open the little windows at night since it was mid March, not sure how you do it in summer or winter (heating was nearly as noisy). Since we decided to use it very seldom, the rating is still 5 stars.
Overall great place, well equipped.

The apartment is clean and well taken care of. It’s located in a peaceful neighborhood that’s family friendly and walkable. Communication with the host was excellent. The only downside to the apartment was the lack of natural light. Which I guess is not a problem if you’re out exploring the city during the day, but not ideal to work for several hours.

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights and it was great! Street parking was a huge plus here and the instructions made it super easy to find. There was a full kitchen which was great for us and we used some of the local recommendations. Overall the experience was good and it was exactly as listed! Also was in a nice neighborhood which was easy to drive and walk in.

Great private studio! Do bring earplugs as sometimes you can hear noise from upstairs. Also, there is no washer and dryer available. Apart from that, the place is beautiful and the king size bed was perfectly comfortable.

I recently had the pleasure of staying in this home for 5 nights and it exceeded all my expectations, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in a fantastic location. My partner and I decided to drive to the location at the last minute and was pleasantly surprised by the ease of finding street parking. It was a huge relief not to have to worry about parking.
The apartment itself was a true gem. The pictures online were spot-on, capturing the essence of the space with complete accuracy. The decor was tasteful , modern and inviting, creating a warm and comforting environment .
One of the highlights of this Airbnb was its location. It was conveniently situated near many popular spots, making it easy for exploring the city. Whether I wanted to visit a museum, enjoy local cuisine, or simply take a leisurely everything was within easy reach 8-15 mins.
Had no problem during my stay, the hosts were responsive & Kind . Would recommend this home 🙂

Wonderful host and a great stay! I was here for 3 days on a conference and the location is in a great area, it's a beautiful place to walk around, and the AirBnb itself was spacious and welcoming. I took a half hour walk towards downtown during my stay and it was absolutely beautiful. Other reviewers were spot-on about the upstairs noise, but I never found it bothersome or exceptionally noisy. If you've lived in a downstairs apartment before, you have nothing to worry about. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay and I highly recommend staying here!

I had a fantastic stay at the Home Sweet City that far exceeded my expectations. The facility was immaculately clean, providing a safe and comfortable environment throughout my visit. Its convenient location made it incredibly easy to get to my conference in downtown DC, saving me time and hassle. I will definitely be back whenever I'm in the DMV area. I give them a five-star rating without reservation. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!

Home Sweet City provided a clean, comfortable and safe space close to the Mt Pleasant neighborhood. Enough dishes, pots and pans to prepare a full meal, and a big super comfy bed.
They were accommodating and flexible with any requests. I would certainly stay again on my next visit to DC.

This was a great little place for three nights. It is in the basement of a family home so you have to expect some noises from others living there. Nice little kitchen, great light in the bathroom with wonderful water pressure. Extremely clean! Home Sweet City was very responsive when I had issues with the air conditioning and the lock. I would caution that when locking the outside gate, you need to keep a finger right next to the key to get it pulled out. Also, if you use the address 3236 Walbridge Pl NW you will be just steps away down the alley instead of all the way around the corner. Wonderful neighborhood, lots of families and people walking dogs. This was a tremendous value (a third of what hotels wanted) and a great place to stay. It also has no steps which was great since I'm currently utilizing a cane.

The Airbnb itself was simply stunning. The attention to detail in the design and decor was evident throughout the entire space. It was stylish, modern, and impeccably clean. I felt like I was staying in a luxurious boutique hotel.

The apartment has everything you need for a short stay (we were 9 days) in a beautiful environment - the entrance is in the back of the house and it is the basement but once you are inside it is perfect and the area is great. We would stay in this place again with no doubt in our minds.

We loved our stay here! The location was great and the studio was perfect for 2. The bed was comfortable, shower was hot with great water pressure, and there is everything you need in there — no doubt! Also, the hosts were quick in their responses and were pretty accommodating.
My only comments would be that you can hear most of what happens on the floor above you, even when they flush. This wasn’t a big deal for us (and this is pretty standard for a basement unit), however sometimes it woke us up at 3/4 in the morning or made it hard to fall asleep. Also, since there is no screen door, lots of mosquitoes and other bugs got in whenever we opened the door. So pack bug spray. Other than these downsides, I would certainly stay there again and enjoyed my stay, no less.

This place was great! Beautiful location, walkable to delicious brunch and dinner spots, friendly neighbors. Also stumbled upon a cute farmer’s market Saturday AM. Short Uber/metro ride to tourist spots in DC.
I will echo another guest’s comment about trouble finding the space at night. Despite the detailed instructions, both my husband and I did struggle to find the place. Once we did, though, it was easy to get in!
Very clean, extremely comfortable bed, nice shower and provided supplies. Hosts were communicative and friendly! We had some miscommunication about some of the amenities but they addressed it quickly. Great spot for a single traveler or a couple. Would definitely stay here again!
FYI: if you get food delivered, just have them call and meet them out on the street in front of the house. It will be much easier!

Really beautiful and clean place! The bed was also very comfortable. We got in an hour earlier and they let us have an early check in!

We had a lovely stay in this wooded area of DC. We enjoyed walking to the National Zoo and to shops and restaurants on Mt. Pleasant Ave. We wished there would’ve been a microwave in the kitchen to heat things up, but we made due. Great communication from the hosts who responded to our questions.

A/C unit was very loud and check out instructions were confusing regarding the room temperature since it wanted you to set within a certain range, but degrees were not on the unit settings.

Overall, the stay was nice! I liked the area and I loved the recommendations offered by the host were great - it allowed me to walk around and get to know the neighborhood. The place was very clean, was stocked up, and had great decor.
It was a little smaller than expected, just understand you’ll only have access to the first floor which is located at the back of the home. But if you’re just one person, it will be good enough - very spacious and homey! You can hear your neighbors, especially in the morning so be weary of that. I loved that they had cookware & silverware, so you could make a meal. Only thing I didn’t see was a microwave, so I just heated up things on the stove.
It is a bit a hard to find though and it was especially hard for me cause I arrived at night and wasn’t super familiar with DC. There were times where I got dropped off at the wrong place. So, that was definitely a little stressful but most of my stay was smooth. And the hosts were responsive and kind!

Was in town for a couple of days to participate in some tributes to my late Uncle Billy Strayhorn at the Library of Congress. The Home Sweet City's listing was such a great haven after my long days of meetings, movie premieres, and concerts. The space was spacious, clean, and had great amenities. Liked the space with the desk as it afforded me to work remotely during my stay. WiFi was also pretty stable and reliable. The Hosts were great and timely in responding to my questions. The place is located on a bus line that connects you to the train station, and some major stores (Target/Old Navy), banks (Wells Fargo), and restaurants.
