Home Sweet City has furnished this English basement well — everything is very clean, it’s easy to get into, and the management company is very responsive on chat. The bed in particular was v cozy. If you’re looking to stay here, you should be aware of a couple of DC-English-basement issues that I doubt HSC could do much about — ceiling is very low in one part (my husband had to continually duck), you can hear all footsteps and noise overhead, and bugs swarm the door so you’ve got to enter quickly. Still a nice stay, though disorienting to learn that HSC runs over a hundred short-term rentals in a city with a housing crisis 🙁

Lovely basement apartment. I would gladly stay again, and likely will. Couple things: if you’re tall (6ft or taller) you will have to duck to keep from hitting your head between the kitchen and bathroom. Also, there’s consistent noise early morning & evening. If you’re a light sleeper, bring earplugs. It was mentioned in other reviews, but bears repeating.
It’s a basement, so keep in mind there’s no natural light. I actually preferred it that way for resting. All in all it’s a great value, and cute property. Exactly as it appears, and the hosts were proactive & responsive when needed. They will ask you to take your own trash & recycling out during your stay. This was a first for me with an AirBnB.

This was a perfect spot for me to stay with my two kids while visiting DC. The boys loved having a “slumber party” all together for our visit and the beds were comfortable. My sister lives on the Hill so we could easily walk to her house or to visit Eastern Market and get on the metro to explore the city.

I loved this place! The space was cozy and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. It’s in a quiet neighborhood but still close to everything…walking distance to public transportation, and just a short, affordable Uber ride to the monuments and museums. The location made getting around super easy. Highly recommend!

Our stay was great, the hosts were really nice and gave clear and easy instructions for check-in and check-out. The place was like the pictures and as described, the location is also nice as there are multiple shops, supermarkets, and restaurants nearby. They also have us numerous recommendations for places to visit and eat, as well as other helpful recommendations for other things we may need such as luggage storage.

This stay was great and the host was phenomenal! The home is cozy and you can easily access all areas of Capitol Hill and Eastern Market with no problem. The only downside is that the flooring and soundproofing is incredibly thin so if you are just relaxing in the space or even working remotely, you can hear every noise from the family upstairs including conversations, dish washing, and especially their dog making noise when they leave the house. It is manageable if you can turn on background noise or leave to explore DC, but definitely a bit more noisy than what we were expecting. The host was responsive, the neighborhood was cute, and I would book with this host in the future for more trips!

At a very good location near MRT and bus stations also have Safeway, if u want to enjoy in Washington choose them u won’t regret. BTW if you care the noise then u should not choose here bcz sometimes upstairs neighbor’s kid would make some noise but not too often. In summary it is a good place to stay and I will recommend u to here.

Great place for a mini vacation. Five stars overall. Convenient to Potomac Ave metro station; or a nice walk to the Capital, if you have extra time. Very clean, easy check-in via keypad. Modern kitchen (with coffee) and bathroom. Good internet, and laundry is an added plus!
Minor caveat: listing stated “bag drop” was available … if you need bag drop, I recommend contacting host before booking, as it may not be available if prior guests check out same day.

This was a first time using an Airbnb and I’m thankful for my awesome experience with Home Sweet!
Their prompt, clear and concise communication made everything run smoothly!
We had flight complications due to Hurricane Helene and I needed to check in early, and I was so ecstatic that I was allowed to check in early versus hang out at the airport for hours because my friend’s flight was delayed.

This is the second time I have stayed at this property. It is clean, pleasant, and cozy. It is close to where I work in town and close to transportation while still feeling like a pleasant little studio apartment. It’s my preferred home away from home when I am in town. This spot was a good, cozy space perfect for two who plan to be out and about a lot. While you do hear the family upstairs quite a bit, it wasn’t unbearable. The neighborhood felt safer than many in DC, and it was a close walk to the Safeway grocery store. It was nice that you could find the shareable scooters and bikes close by, and the capital was within a long walk. Everything I needed was here, when I return to DC I’ll be looking for this exact space again.

Home Sweet City was very convenient to what I needed in DC. Had plenty of visitor parking right in front of the place. Easy walking distance to food stores and restaurants. Home Sweet City was very clear with their check in, check out, trash disposal, linen use etc.

My stay at the Airbnb was wonderful. The place was impeccably clean, cozy, and perfectly suited for my work trip. The kitchen was a highlight, equipped not just with cooking wares and utensils, but also a generous assortment of spices and essentials that are usually not provided. Parking was surprisingly easy in the area. Additionally, the hosts were exceptionally responsive and accommodating. You won’t be disappointed with your stay.

This was a special trip- as I planned a surprise proposal for my partner! I was hoping this listing would hold up to the description and it absolutely did!! We LOVED the location. Quick trips to anywhere we wanted to go. It was spotless and so comfortable. We have a 4 year old at home so honestly hearing the pitter patter of little footsteps and the dog playing made us instantly smile upon waking. We highly recommend this unit and will definitely stay again!

Staying here was perfect for my needs. I work remotely and commute to DC regularly. I loved that this beautiful room is within half a mile of the office and the Metro station. It has all of the charm of the old town without any of the traffic and noise.
This is my go-to place to stay when I am in town. Thank you!

Great stay! Lovely and active neighborhood with lots of families and things to do close by or just a short jaunt away. Comfy bed and plenty of items in the kitchen for cooking at “home”. They also reached out regarding a forgotten item and I so appreciated that. 10/10 would recommended and stay again.

The place isn’t bad, but it’s not great either. It’s a little overpriced, if you ask me.
PROS:
– easy check in – just use the keypad
– laundry in-unit
– clean
– responsive host
CONS:
– The 2nd bed is a Trundle-style bed that slides out from under the main bed
– not very well organized space. There is no good place to just relax and hang out
– very noisy. Street noise and the people who lived above clearly had some rowdy children who stomped around all day
– too expensive for what you get
– not a convenient location for anything you would want to do in DC

The basement apartment was clean and just as described. The location was perfect for us, close to the mall, Metro and neighborhood shops/Eastern Market. The only issue we had was the noise from the family upstairs. They mentioned in a past post that they had made changes to reduce the noise through a door but our issue was the noise through the ceiling (ours)/floor (theirs). Great place but seems if they would like to have respectful and quiet guests it should be honored the other way around too.

Such a cute and cozy place to stay. Very clean and absolutely no noise despite it being a basement apartment. Because there are no windows there is no sunlight that enters, which is great at morning time! But it can get cold which the hosts were great at answering quickly, or you can also manually close the air vents to your liking of airflow. Overall, my friends and I had a great stay and it was a friendly, quiet neighborhood.

Everything was great about this location. My only hang ups are the fact that it’s a basement with loud upstair occupants, specifically in the morning from 6 to 8 am, and lack of access to heating and air controls. My recommendation is to supply a fan! Overall, a good place with a nice kitchen stocked with essentials!

The clean and deceptively spacious basement apartment is in a gorgeous neighborhood just minutes from two metro stops. You could even walk to the Capitol in just under 30 minutes. The bed is comfortable and the kitchen has all the equipment and even a large selection of salt, pepper, and spices in one of the many drawers. I would stay here again for sure.

I very much enjoyed my stay on this beautiful street in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. This apartment is newly refinished and features a comfortable desk and chair for working and writing. I was able to find street parking right in front any time day or night. The bed and bedding are immaculate and very comfortable as well. Highly recommend and hope to stay again on my next visit to DC.

Loved the location! There was this great cafe called Butter and Wine that was within walking distance and had the best breakfast and coffee. Our host recommended this cafe. The AirBnb was also extremely clean and perfect for a weekend getaway.

Basement studio apartment in rowhouse on quiet street about 10 minute walk to shops and restaurants (Ukrainian restaurant Ruta was particularly tasty). Did not have car. Realize that you will hear upstairs noise (dog, kids running, etc.) from about 7am or 8am in the morning. There are also no windows in apartment so may get stuffy. Clean, with comfortable bed and pillows. Coffee and tea a nice touch.

This an excellent place to stay in DC with all the accommodations you could need. It’s located about 10 minutes from a metro station that gives you quick access to the rest of the city. It’s also within walking distance of the many dining options available in Eastern Market. The place is clean and check-in / check-out process is very straight-forward. The bed is quite comfortable and there are a variety of different types of pillows available to suit individual preferences. The kitchen area is spacious and there is also a small desk suitable for remote work. Overall a great place to stay.

Great basement apartment just about a 15 min walk to the metro and 5 from the grocery store. Clean, comfortable, and bigger than you’d expect. Kids make some noise above you but genuinely wasn’t a problem!

The only issue we had was the noise from the family upstairs. They mentioned in a past post that they had made changes to reduce the noise through a door but our issue was the noise through the ceiling (ours)/floor (theirs). Great place but seems if they would like to have respectful and quiet guests it should be honored the other way around too.

Such a cute and cozy place to stay. Very clean and absolutely no noise despite it being a basement apartment. Because there are no windows there is no sunlight that enters, which is great at morning time! But it can get cold which the hosts were great at answering quickly, or you can also manually close the air vents to your liking of airflow. Overall, my friends and I had a great stay and it was a friendly, quiet neighborhood.

Everything was great about this location. My only hang ups are the fact that it’s a basement with loud upstair occupants, specifically in the morning from 6 to 8 am, and lack of access to heating and air controls. My recommendation is to supply a fan! Overall, a good place with a nice kitchen stocked with essentials!

The clean and deceptively spacious basement apartment is in a gorgeous neighborhood just minutes from two metro stops. You could even walk to the Capitol in just under 30 minutes. The bed is comfortable and the kitchen has all the equipment and even a large selection of salt, pepper, and spices in one of the many drawers. I would stay here again for sure.

I very much enjoyed my stay on this beautiful street in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. This apartment is newly refinished and features a comfortable desk and chair for working and writing. I was able to find street parking right in front any time day or night. The bed and bedding are immaculate and very comfortable as well. Highly recommend and hope to stay again on my next visit to DC.

Loved the location! There was this great cafe called Butter and Wine that was within walking distance and had the best breakfast and coffee. Our host recommended this cafe. The AirBnb was also extremely clean and perfect for a weekend getaway.

Comfortable, immaculate studio with everything you need. Not far from Eastern Market. Hosts were very communicative (checking in to make sure I got in, answering my many questions, etc.)

Basement studio apartment in rowhouse on quiet street about 10 minute walk to shops and restaurants (Ukrainian restaurant Ruta was particularly tasty). Did not have car. Realize that you will hear upstairs noise (dog, kids running, etc.) from about 7am or 8am in the morning. There are also no windows in apartment so may get stuffy. Clean, with comfortable bed and pillows. Coffee and tea a nice touch.

Super clean, and very responsive! Parking was a little tough (but that was also because I didn’t do it earlier as stated). Perfect little spot for my fiancé and son to visit DC. It was definitely a little noisy upstairs, but again they did state that prior to! Would def recommend!

This an excellent place to stay in DC with all the accommodations you could need. It’s located about 10 minutes from a metro station that gives you quick access to the rest of the city. It’s also within walking distance of the many dining options available in Eastern Market. The place is clean and check-in / check-out process is very straight-forward. The bed is quite comfortable and there are a variety of different types of pillows available to suit individual preferences. The kitchen area is spacious and there is also a small desk suitable for remote work. Overall a great place to stay.

This place met my top priorities of being in a safe neighborhood and close to the Metro. We loved walking the neighborhood and it was also close to a good grocery store. Overall, a cute studio apartment, comfortable bed and everything was very clean and updated.

Great basement apartment just about a 15 min walk to the metro and 5 from the grocery store. Clean, comfortable, and bigger than you’d expect. Kids make some noise above you but genuinely wasn’t a problem!

Location, location, location! This cute studio has a beautiful location, close to the metro, shops and the downtown area. Perfect for a small family of 3 or couples. Parking was perfect and never a challenge. Very clean and the place had everything we needed for our stay.
