Great place to spend a few days

Super clean place in an up and coming location with lots to do nearby. The host is very communicative.

Very quiet and peaceful. Great stay

This is my third time staying in this beautiful, English basement with Home Sweet Home, and it was just as wonderful of a stay as the first two times. A warm and welcoming host offering a pristine 1 bed/1 bath, minutes away from Union Market, with plenty of options for public transit to get you to downtown or the National Mall in no time at all. I couldn’t recommend this space highly enough!

The place was exactly as described and pictured. Instructions for check in, during the stay, and check out were clear and I had no questions for the host. Neighborhood is beautiful and easy walking distance to lots of places. Very clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend.

Comfortable, clean apartment exactly how it was described. Towels, bedding & supplies available were perfect! We tried 2 restaurants that were recommended which was delicious especially El Presidente!

This was the perfect spot for us and we will try to book it for our next visit to DC. For us personally, this unit is 1/2 block from our daughter’s place – she just had a baby so this was super convenient. In general we would give a thumbs up for anyone wanting a nice place for 2 in the Union Market area. The unit was clean, well stocked with kitchen stuff (including complimentary coffee and tea), communication with the host was very timely and informative, and the location was convenient for the Union Market area, Gallaudet and the metro.

Wonderful place, short walk to the metro station with lots of good food around.

The location is great and the host was quite responsive.

We stayed for 5 nights and it was a great stay. The apartment was easy to find, check-in was easy. Everything was just as the pictures showed, very clean, well appointed. There were what we felt were premium teas and coffees. The heating was with a mini-split in the living room and another in the bedroom which made it easy to control the temperature just to our liking. We felt safe in the immediate neighborhood. There are restaurants and supermarkets nearby. it is a short walk to the NOMA-Gallaudet metro station. Location is quite good for getting around the city. Overall it was a very good Airbnb experience.

The unit is in a great location with lots of things to do and great restaurants. Also, it is between our two adult children and we could w.alk between the two. Checkin was easy and the apartment neat and clean. Also, checkout was smooth and easy. It couldn’t have been a nicer stay and we would stay there again on a future trip to DC

HSC provided a great experience. The neighborhood was safe and pleasurable. Walkable day and night, and close to the Metro. Slept great, the basement apt was clean and warm. Barely heard them upstairs. I highly recommend staying here.

Cute little place with tons of restaurants within a walking distance

I had a great stay here! The place is gorgeous, spotlessly clean, and has several high-quality amenities. The washer/dryer were excellent, bathroom and cleaning supplies were a joy to use, and wifi/TV worked flawlessly. I especially appreciated the hosts’ responsiveness and friendliness — I felt so well-taken care of. Public transit is close by, and it was also fun to be close to Union Market and explore it often. I recommend!

I booked it for my 20 year-old daughter who was doing a capital Hill internship. There was no full kitchen but adequate microwave and toaster oven. The neighborhood is a little sketchy so she could not run. Initially there was a massive mosquito infestation right outside the entrance to the basement apartment. I reached out to the host and they sprayed pesticide.did not hear about any issues after that. Overall not bad but the price was a little expensive for what we got.

Home Sweet City was perfect for me before going back home. I didn’t have a chance to explore the neighborhood but the place itself was very comfy, clean, and perfect. Just as described in the photos. Would recommend 100%!

Clean, beautiful space with everything we needed. The street was quiet and we slept great. It’s very close to the shops and restaurants of Union Market, which we thoroughly enjoyed, and the metro was a short walk down the street too.

Good for business trips and short stay. Traveling from another city or country, the car parking was not convenient to register and even print the pass. We struggled to find a printer to print the pass. The car parking registration instruction was not clear, made us register until mid-night and we did not know if it is okay to keep the car parked after mid-night. We had to pay extra money to keep the car in a parking garage.

Clean space with many amenities. Convenient location- less than a 10 minute walk to the metro station. The hosts were also very helpful and responsive.

My stay was very enjoyable. The owners were very helpful with guiding me through this process as this was my first time using AirBnB. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend others to stay here as well.

The English basement apartment was perfect for me and my husband. The bed was comfortable and the linens were nice. There were extra blankets and towels, and plenty of space in the closet. The bathroom was really nice, and the toiletries provided were great! The kitchen space includes a new Keurig, a small refrigerator, an induction cookpad, and a microwave/air-fryer combo. We chose not to cook, because there were so many great restaurants in the area, including everything you could ever want inside Union Market. There was an assortment of coffee pods and bagged coffee for us to enjoy. The furniture in the living space was comfortable. I gave us a nice place to relax and watch tv after full days of visiting the monuments, museums, and a baseball game. We mostly used Uber and Lyft to get around, but there are a couple of Metro stops nearby. We felt safe walking around the neighborhood, even at night. We will definitely stay there again.

Communicative and responsive. The neighborhood is really walkable with plenty to do on H Street and/or Union Market and NoMa, bars and restaurants, multiple nearby grocery stores, and accessible by a variety of transportation.

I stayed in this apartment for a couple of weeks. My original plan was to stay for one week, but needed to extend the stay for an additional week. The host was very accommodating and there were absolutely no issues at all. It truly felt like home during my stay. The kitchen had everything I needed to eat at home. The bathroom met all of my needs (and I LOVED the Public Goods products!), and the bed was very comfortable. The washer and dryer were excellent as well. The best part about this apartment is how close it is to EVERYTHING. I did not need a car to get around. I could easily walk to the nearest Metro station (NOMA-Gallaudet) or take buses anywhere. The food options nearby were endless. I truly enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to come back and stay here once again in the future.

The apartment was very quiet, very accessible, and easy to get to. Since I was working at Gallaudet University all week it was in the perfect spot but also extremely close to transportation and that made it easy to get around, though I mostly walked. Everything is available nearby, including restaurants, grocery stores, and a cute little bar at the end of M street near the metro. Having a washer and dryer on the premises was incredibly convenient, as was a modular microwave that had microwave, air frying, and oven capabilities in one unit. I did at one point set off the smoke alarm (of course, popcorn + unfamiliar microwave = nightmare), and thankfully the owner was home upstairs (learn from my mistake and don’t do this). I felt like a total jerk (it seemed to trigger the fire department, which I felt even more of a jerk about), but the owner was very nice about the whole thing. Thankfully there is a front and back door to get air circulating. I would definitely stay here again!

Loved our stay!

We had a wonderful stay with Home Sweet City! The unit is pristine and in a wonderful location in Noma – right next to Union Market and H Street Corridor – and we felt right at home. The host was so thoughtful and communicative throughout our entire stay, and the price for the location and convenience is one you can’t beat. I would definitely recommend staying here, I know we’ll try to again the next time we visit!

This was a great place to stay, close to grocery shops and in-door markets. Super clean and very quiet despite being in the middle of the city

My partner and I were very uncomfortable while staying here. Before entering we were greeted with hundreds of bugs that also entered the property as you enter the door. We immediately requested for something to be laid outside and then someone came by they said they laid things out but that didn’t last at all & also gave me bug spray, which didn’t help much. The bathroom smell was odd. Not sure if it’s the water or the bathroom. Also, one night it pour heavily. I get the weather has been insane as of lately with the rain, if I didn’t turn back into the room I wouldn’t noticed how it was flooding. I get we are in the basement. But when renting to many people at once. An issue like this should be non existent, or solved immediately. The outside should be waterproofed so water doesn’t seep from widows and damage products or belongings of the people staying there. I wish I enjoyed it more because it was a pretty place. But those inconveniences made it hard for me to enjoy my stay here.

Home Sweet City was a wonderful place to relax in between work events and sight seeing. I loved the Public Goods personal care products provided. The kitchen had everything I needed. I was ready to not sleep well as some mentioned the bed was uncomfortable but I found it to be perfectly comfortable.

This snug and clean apartment met all of our needs as a couple for rest and relaxation as well for eating in and doing laundry. For a basement apartment, it felt safe and the neighborhood was secure and friendly. All our questions were answered but we didn’t have to ask much because we had what we needed

Highly recommend staying here whilst in DC! Great location for food, transport and overall a peaceful area. It’s just as decsribed in the listing/photos and hosts are very helpful throughout. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!

This was an awesome place to stay for such a last minute trip! It was super easy to wonder the basement apartment! The location was also perfect for me, right near union market district with lots to explore!

Fabulous stay. The owner was a very pleasant man. I had a few problems with the management company who were quite feisty in their questioning of my suitability to stay, which was disappointing. That’s not the fault of either the owner or the rental. Overall it was highly recommended.

We had a nice stay here. The unit is easy to access, the couches were comfortable and the surrounding neighborhood is peaceful. The host also has a very quick response time and provided clear instructions.

Nice, clean place.

The place was small and cozy. We didn’t spend much time in the airbnb but when we were there it was enjoyable, although we could hear the people upstairs walking around and moving furniture occasionally. This wasn’t a big issue though and the airbnb location and amenities more than made up for it.

Very clean, cute, and convenient to walk to everything we wanted (groceries, cafes, CVS, restaurants, ice cream…we like to eat!) …a fun neighborhood to explore. Michelle was friendly, quick to communicate, and texted the first day just to make sure we were happy! We’re hoping to stay again.

If you’re looking for comfort, would avoid. The mattress was 3 inches with no mattress pad, hard as hardwood floor. This is an unfortunate situation where profit is trumping comfort. The minimum basics with strict check out requirements. Left feeling I was working for them. GO ELSEWHERE! This is just a business for them and you don’t get your monies worth.

This is a great option in the townhomes of NOMA. I enjoyed an easy walk to restaurants and the Metro. Fresh decorations make this smart looking basement a pleasant stay.

Nice place, really convenient that is a small walk to metro. Allows for easy way to get to museums or capital one arena. Walking back at night, neighborhood felt safe.

Air BNB was clean, bed was very stiff. Like that bed is not comfortable, the couch was softer. It’s ok for someone who won’t be in it much. It’s in the basement so there’s not that much sunlight or views. Check in/out times don’t really make sense. And showers get warm at best. Very nice location, close to U and H street. The place was very clean and accesible. Wifi was amazing. Washer and dryer in suite a big plus.

The garden apartment was easy to access, spotlessly clean, and recently updated. The location was amazing, just a 5 minute walk to Union Market and a 10 minute walk to the H Street corridor. Really happy I stayed in this location.

This is a great property – exactly as described, and very close to Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. Walking distance to great restaurants near Union Market.

A great place to stay for a trip to DC. The location is excellent, close to great places for food and drink, near the metro and walkable to the Capitol. The flat has everything that you could want and is in excellent condition.
